Cpt Tuttle Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 (edited) Got 404 error in my previous post, will try to upload it now in this new post that I started as a clear one.... Edited July 29, 2019 by Cpt Tuttle
Cpt Tuttle Posted July 29, 2019 Author Posted July 29, 2019 Building box stock always seems so boring to me. While browsing around the web I saw both targa and convertible conversions from the 80s. Now, convertibles aren't really my thing but to make it a bit different, it got a targa conversion. Here with some primer on it to spot if there's some imperfections left. Wheels are Aoshima Volvo 240 with some Pirelli rubber of unknown source I found in the parts box. If I don't find anything I like better, I will probably spray it in this purple.
Atmobil Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 Cool project, what kit are you building from? Monogram? As you already know, my favourite Testarossa is the one you drive in Out Run Here is a link to one very special one: https://www.evo.co.uk/ferrari/18239/the-story-of-the-out-run-ferrari
Cpt Tuttle Posted July 29, 2019 Author Posted July 29, 2019 (edited) Fujimi 512 TR, the updated version from the early 90s. Now when I think about it, I am not sure if they are called Testarossas or if they dropped that name with the facelift. That's why I swapped the wheels too, the 80s Testarossa wheel is very cool IMO, one of my favourites but the 90s model is a bit too tame for a car with such an extreme design. Cpt Tuttle Posted July 30, 2019 Author Posted July 30, 2019 Some work done on the front suspension, when looking at pictures it seems like spindles and steering rack should be raw aluminium and the rest black, so I went for that. Gold centres on the wheels since I think that goes well together with purple.
Rider Posted July 30, 2019 Posted July 30, 2019 Looking good. Purple and gold go together like peanut butter and jam.
Cpt Tuttle Posted July 31, 2019 Author Posted July 31, 2019 Basecoat shot on the body, needs some wet sanding and clearcoat but this shade is actually growing on me, I don't regret it. The huge metal lump in the back needed some paint too.
heyjohnxx Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 I saw a Testarossa in Chicago this last weekend. Man, was that thing wide!
Cpt Tuttle Posted August 1, 2019 Author Posted August 1, 2019 I have never seen a real one, but yeah, I can imagine!
Dann Tier Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 Love what you're doing to this one, bud!!!.....i love targa cars!!

Gramps46 Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 I was walking down the street in Brussels looking in shop windows when I heard it coming. Turned around and saw the TR passing by and was dumbfounded.
Cpt Tuttle Posted August 4, 2019 Author Posted August 4, 2019 It's in the bath now...... B-pillar broke off and couldn't be fixed without paint damage. It's some really bad plastic in this one, both brittle and soft at the same time, strangely enough.
Cpt Tuttle Posted August 7, 2019 Author Posted August 7, 2019 Since the fragile B-pillars broke off, I decided to chop off some more of the roof and throw the body in the bath. Actually, I think there's better flow in the lines this way....
Cpt Tuttle Posted August 8, 2019 Author Posted August 8, 2019 I found a nice sand beige colour for the interior. Looks exclusive IMO. How the interior is put together? Well, EVERYTHING is screwed in place....sigh..... I think this model has more screws than an 1:1 Testarossa.
