935k3 Posted September 30, 2019 Posted September 30, 2019 Nice work so far except the seats are way to shiny. They would look better with some semi-gloss clear.

Shelby 427 1965 Posted October 1, 2019 Posted October 1, 2019 Getting better and better, was just about to mention the seats but was beat to it! Love that paint finish. Gorgeous.

Shouldn't have taken a pic of them until I got them finished I guess.
lghtngyello03 Posted October 7, 2019 Author Posted October 7, 2019 I haven’t had much time this week for an update. But I did get some time this weekend to make a bit of progress. On the body, I got all of the black trim taped and painted, the windows put in, the headlights, tail lights, and grille work completed, all of the panel lines detailed. I also got the interior sprayed in a Semi Gloss clear for the seats, and the dash decals on and steering wheel glued on. I was kind of dreading making the Hobby Design muffler work, but it was much easier than I expected. I got this completed with some 4mm styrene tubing, so I sprayed it gloss black and went over it with some Alclad Chrome to get ready for the heat discoloring process tomorrow hopefully.

It has presented a lot of problems that I never really have when building. The different brand paint bit me in the butt, and the resin front bumper and wheels have and are still posing issues that I'm having to make work. The Tamiya parts have been awesome, the kit is awesome....but the hobby design resin parts are....meh.
iamsuperdan Posted October 7, 2019 Posted October 7, 2019 Dang that's looking good. What are you using for the red/amber turn signals and tail lights? That's biggest area I feel my builds let me down.

Most of the time the tail light area requires to be silver behind the lenses, which I apply Bare Metal Foil to these areas. Same goes on the headlights and fog lights if they aren't a chrome plated part already.

lghtngyello03 Posted October 9, 2019 Author Posted October 9, 2019 I managed to get the interior completed this evening. It is done with black embossing powder. I also got the exhaust heat discoloration completed and then installed the chassis onto the body and mounted the wheels. All that’s left is to get the spoiler painted and decals installed and install the mirrors and it’ll be done.
Shelby 427 1965 Posted October 9, 2019 Posted October 9, 2019 Drop dead gorgeous. Doing yourself very proud Tomo

Doing yourself very proud Tomo Thank you both very much. This build hasn't been bad, but the battles along the way (shotty paint, wheel dimensions, resin bumper fitment to chassis issues) have been super frustrating and almost enough to make me want to ditch it for a little bit and shove it to the side. I've got a really cool build, I hope, that I will be starting next that I've been itching to get started on. It's just sitting beside my workbench calling my name, lol.
lghtngyello03 Posted October 15, 2019 Author Posted October 15, 2019 Almost finished on this one. I got my decals for the spoiler yesterday so I was able to spray it and get those put on. Just have to install the top part of the wing on the spoiler when the glue dries on the car and I’ll be done.
lghtngyello03 Posted October 15, 2019 Author Posted October 15, 2019 Officially finished with this one. It can be seen under glass
