Merkur XR4Ti Posted September 16, 2019 Posted September 16, 2019 Just off the workbench: Bobby Hamilton’s 2001 Talladega winner. This is my second attempt at building this one, the Slixx decals were issued at the nadir of their quality, so I knew it would be a struggle. I sprayed the decals with Testors decal bonder first which made them usable, although still too stiff and brittle for real comfort. Glad to have this one added to my display case.
Seann Anderson Posted September 16, 2019 Posted September 16, 2019 This is so cool. I love how we have the chance to do these cars and keep them in our memory.
james460 Posted September 16, 2019 Posted September 16, 2019 Great work Steve. ! Question, Glue Kit or Pro-modeler with paint removed and redone? Sorry can't tell
Merkur XR4Ti Posted September 16, 2019 Author Posted September 16, 2019 Good eye, it's the pro modeler kit. For this era of Monte Carlo I always use a Pro modeler kit as the body is much more accurate than the full glue kits.
Dragonhawk1066 Posted September 16, 2019 Posted September 16, 2019 Great job! I remember this car mostly when Kenny Wallace drove it, lol.
Shambles Posted September 17, 2019 Posted September 17, 2019 (edited) Nice build! Love me some Monte Carlos. I've had several over the years. The last was a 2002 SS but this was my favorite, a '74 454/auto with swivel buckets and factory gauge package. Wish I'da kept that one! Edited September 17, 2019 by Shambles
Old Coyote Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 Beautiful build sir. Very nicely done.
Jim N Posted September 20, 2019 Posted September 20, 2019 Looks great Steve! Superb paint and decal work.
