STYRENE-SURFER Posted November 1, 2019 Author Posted November 1, 2019 Forgot about those Squirrel Nut Zippers. What a cool band. Bauhaus... This one was just kind of spooky, anyone remember this? 2
Snake45 Posted November 1, 2019 Posted November 1, 2019 Believe it or not, I got through the whole day without hearing "Werewolves of London" on the radio. Not a big problem--as a collector of Warren Zevon concert bootlegs, I probably have 50 different versions of it. But here's a VERY cool version you might not have heard before. If you're a guitar nut, you'll appreciate seeing the great Waddy Wachtel (a co-writer of the song, BTW). And with FIVE guitars blasting (counting Will Lee's bass), a couple of shots here put me in mind of an antiaircraft battery.

afx Posted October 26, 2022 Posted October 26, 2022 The Decemberists - Shankill Butchers Very creepy song and it is based on a real gang.
Mike C. Posted October 26, 2022 Posted October 26, 2022 (edited) I think Bauhaus has got it hands down. More rockin' than spooky would be The Witch by The Sonics. Edited October 28, 2022 by Mike C. 1
Mike C. Posted October 26, 2022 Posted October 26, 2022 The Title track from Sonic Youth's New York City Ghosts and Flowers. ?
Mike C. Posted October 26, 2022 Posted October 26, 2022 Slint's Good Morning Capitan is based on a scary novel. Some of the lyrics are taken directly from the book. I can't remember the books name now.
Mike C. Posted October 26, 2022 Posted October 26, 2022 (edited) Chills Same album. Creep. This song was always kind of spooky to me as the lyrics are about a ghost in an abandoned house. Edited October 26, 2022 by Mike C.
Snake45 Posted October 26, 2022 Posted October 26, 2022 I hope this qualifies. Just heard it in the soundtrack of Barbarian, a terrifying new horror film now streaming on HBO/MAX. I'd never heard it before, though apparently it's not new at all. Pretty cool and catchy tune.
Mike C. Posted October 26, 2022 Posted October 26, 2022 Mazzy Star - Ghost Highway. Saw this band back in 1990 or so when they oppened up for the Cocteau Twins at the Keswick Theater. They weren't even on my radar yet but I cam away a big fan of them.
Mike C. Posted October 26, 2022 Posted October 26, 2022 Ghosts of American Astronauts - Mekons. Not really that spooky but it does have "Ghost" in the title.
