Hello everybody, I am wanting to convert my Lindberg F150 Stepside 4x4 into a lowered street truck. I was wondering if I could use the kit chassis or if I should build a chassis from scratch. If I build a chassis, how would I go about doing so? I've never built my own chassis before and I am curious.

Just find the AMT version. The work is already done for you. Plus, it's a styleside. The box has a long bed on it. But, I've been told it's actually a short bed.

So if I understand correctly, it would be better if I used the Lightning kit to build a street truck from? Would it be best to keep the Lindberg kit 4x4?

Probably would make more sense if you had to get a second kit. Granted, if you don't care about accuracy too much, you could just use the Lindberg kit and modify the front suspension to be a 2WD setup. You would have to remove the torsion bars, obviously not install the front axle, and add some coil springs.

The Lightning would definitely be a better choice. You could probably do a trade for one with your Lindberg kit. Unless you want to keep it to build as a 4x4 later. If you would rather have a short styleside bed instead of the flareside, the AMT '97 F-150 actually has a short styleside bed instead of the long styleside bed depicted on the box.

What abou the Revell Harley truck or a variant?   Don't see much of the Harley version - may be rare?  Would be a nice reissue I would think...
