Just came in from the garage where i glanced at this Big boy.

Got to thinking what a nice nostalgic build it would be. Then the modeler of old kicks in thinking about possible modifications.

First off in my mind at least the quintessential '32 Ford hot rod roadster has a small block Chevy, and of course three twos. I ran that in my 1:1 '60 El Camino, most fun you can have . . . Ok, you get it.

Now lets not get to flamin' this post about Chevys in a Ford. That's not what this thread is about. I really think the Pontiac engine in the kit is great but not what I want.

My question to you, have any of you done this engine swap in this kit ?

Another question, Fenders or not ?

I'm thinking of using an old Monogram Customizing Auto Engine as the Chevy source since Atlantis is working on a reissue.

I vote for no fenders and American mags just on the basis of the photo.  It's a classic look that maybe deserves a little more attention.

IMO the SBC is every bit as iconic as a flathead Ford.

That's the McMullen Deuce in the pic....

I have two of them by Danbury...

Sadly, neither one survived intact due to the abuse of Canadian Customs Inspection....

As close as you are to the border, you should look into getting a USA address. I have one and it has saved me hundreds of $$ on shipping. Costs $5 per package for handling fee. And since a lot of places in the states that I buy from will ship free inside the US, I don't pay any shipping on a lot of stuff. One of the best saves for money for me was I purchased my son a pedal car from Speedway Motors. The pedal car cost me $300 US. To ship to me in Ontario it was going to be another $190 US. but to ship it to my US address in Niagara Falls New York, was free. Add to that the fact that when I was down there I filled my truck up with fuel and saved a bunch of money on that as well it was a win all the way around.

I cross at the Queenston Lewiston Bridge and the one I use is one exit past the border on I-90. There are two or three different options in Niagara Falls. I am sure that there are similar places in Buffalo down close to where you are as well.
