Nick F40 Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 (edited) HOLY ######!!!! I was so excited when they were at the grid, I had goosebumps. That is so sweet seeing them all out there and LIVE! Massa might be having trouble though now with the debris, but all the Ferraris are in the top ten and Kimi has been posting faster times than Hamilton. Edited September 28, 2008 by Nick F40
Nick F40 Posted September 28, 2008 Author Posted September 28, 2008 (edited) NOOOOOOOO! The Scuderia Ferrari team just screwed up and still had the fuel hose in the car when he went on green in the pits so he had to wait to get it out and go to last place! This is getting interesting Edited September 28, 2008 by Nick F40
Zoom Zoom Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 Cool track, but so far a snorefest of a race Rain...please!!
58 Impala Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 (edited) Ferrari needs to get rid of that ###### electronic pit paddle!! That's the second time that stupid thing has caused a problem. It caused them to lose the race. Edited September 28, 2008 by 58 Impala
CAL Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 yup another race Massa seemed to have in the bag lost my Team Ferrari.
Zoom Zoom Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 Well now, that was a pretty cool race after all Karma reared it's ugly head... I feel really bad for Massa, his team really let him down. I'm sure the FIA will come to their rescue!
58 Impala Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 Zoom Zoom, you wouldn't happen to be a Hammi fan would you? He did make a good come back from a poor pitstop. Oh well, such are the breaks in racing. On to Japan!

Let's hope Fujis better.

Oh well, such are the breaks in racing. On to Japan! As a matter of fact I am He got a raw deal at Spa (much to some people's glee). One of the greatest races with so much excitement, something sadly lacking in most F1 races. And then the FIA goes and kills the buzz. Jackie Stewart and Niki Lauda have my back on that one, so I'm in good company I'm also a fan of Massa and Alonso, and for fair racing without artificial meddling by the FIA. So today's outcome was fine by me, and good to see a newer driver in his first podium finish. A heartbreaker for Massa, for sure. I'd love to see him claw his way back and give us a really exciting end to the season on the racetrack without FIA's clumsy and one-sided intervention.
kerc Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 Great race, I'm happy for Alonso, but more so for Nico. And Hamilton got a solid 3rd, which I really like. What the heck happened to Ferrari?! Sheesh...my son wasn't hapy at all (he's a Ferrari fan).

CAL Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 I was glad to see Alonso win. Ferrari is just having bad luck and a run of costly mistakes. Poor ole Massa can't seem to catch a break. This is the second race he should have won and it goes bad for him - totally out of his control. I am surprised and impressed by Hamiltons perfomance. He didn't do anything stupid, but it was clear early on they (McLaren) didn't quite have the pace of Ferrari. Lucky break for Hamilton. He didn't (Hamilton) didn't get no raw deals from FIA. If anyone would bother to read the Sporting Reg you'd see he's been luck that he hasn't gotten more penalties. It is black and white, spelled out in the Sporting regs. FIA didn't do anything wrong.
crispy Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 By far one of the most exciting races this year and a lot of surprises. I'm very happy to see Alonso win, but Scuderia Ferrari, what happened! I was hoping for Kimi to move into another position or two and I believe that he was certainly trying and thus the outcome. I was very surprised at Hamilton's composure. He ran a good clean smart race and I believe was very lucky to be third. In all honesty I really thought he would have a hotter head and try to pull something. I have to give him credit. I enjoyed this race very much. Chris
kerc Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 Also, I couldn't help but keep being amazed at the wonderful track. The lights, the surrounding architecture, the huge amount of fans, it was just...WOW. The cars looked amazing, slick and watery, especially Ferrari, McLaren, and Williams, although I can say the Force India gold looked positively royal. Great eye candy plus great racing...Definitely worth waking up early on a weekend!

Chris I agree, I had him pegged for fourth behind both Ferrairs, I didn't see anything he done wrong, and he was luck because his car clearly wasn't competitive with Ferrari or Alonso's Reunalt. He (Hamilton) had to know that all eyes were going to be on him and couldn't afford any controversy. Edited September 28, 2008 by CAL

When Massa had that mishap, I thought, ok, since they were all running in the top ten, Raikkonen will be up front but he kind of kept back and of course that incident at the end and Vettel was the only real competitive Ferrari at the end and I must say, he did a bang up job!! I do have to give Hamilton credit also, ran a smooth clean race and didn't lose his composure. Also, I couldn't help but keep being amazed at the wonderful track. They said the Suzuka race might be lit up for next year along with all kinds of cool changes. The gold was pretty sweet and the lights, as they pointed out brought out the metallic in the Scuderia's paint
58 Impala Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 Yeah, I thought Hamilton was going to try and pass Niko but he played it smart and settled for the 6pts.
gregbbear Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 What a spectacle despite my disappointment with Ferrari. Massa was doing an incredible job, truly the class of the field. Hamilton even admitted that he had ran his tires down trying to keep up/ over driving the car. What could've been???? But, that is racing. Also rans seem to change the outcome of many races, in all series. I do think that the race organizers need to do a better job of clearing wrecks. They should take some notes from Monaco. If I wanted to watch safety car parades, I'd watch NASCAR! Too bad it didn't rain, that evens the odds ( ie Sutil at Monaco). The above paragraph sounds negative, sorry. I thoroughly enjoyed the race. F1 is truly the pinnacle. Petite Lemans next weekend! Yeah! Cheers, Greg

CAL Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 on to Petit!!! Yup something to look forward too. I am not sure what the problem is over at Ferrari, but the looked like amatures and clowns and the are 15 for 15 in screwing up one or both of their drivers race results. It's looks like the good ole days when they were the worst team in F1. It could be very well they handed both WCC and WDC titles to McLaren.

YUP! well, Massa probably did something to his engine, like they said, for sitting there for 30-45 seconds and with that green light fuel hose still in car incident, Raikkonen take the esses to sharp and bouncing into the wall in the last few laps, Bourdais...well, he's a rookie in F1 and Vettel was the only good positioning one, my boy from Germany!.......cheya!!!

Luck for Massa he gets a new engine before Japan and Brazil. I am surprised.... that was his Monza engine... it didn't melt down. Massa had a puncture late just to add salt to the wound. Len Colombo Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 I was very excited and happy to see Felipe leading the race.He and the car looked very strong. Then the safety car came out and all sorts of bad things happened. When i saw that refueling hose break away from his car my jaw just dropped. It reminded me of the bad old days when a Ferrari pit stop was something less than a work of art. Then when Kimi hit the barrier with three laps remaining, that was the icing on the cake.Ferrari is hoping on three one-two's in a row.I think that the dream team(Todt,Brawn, etc.)is sorely missed by us Tifosi.

I know! I was crushed... the split second I seen him drive away I knew it was all over. And sitting there waiting for the engine to melt down, (did you see the look on his face, ya ya, And to take a drive through, and a late pucture, and sliding into the water barrier. It's a maricle he finished. I almost thought it was Felipe who crashed for an instant. The pit guy running the traffic light was fired, without question. - Domenicali, who also said, "One, Two target for the rest of the races... What was the bloody target the rest of the year? They did look like the old day clowns of F1, for sure. It must have been some sight from the McLaren garage with the Ferrari guys jogging by to get their big worm back. Sad, sad, day... night but you have to admit hit was funny, the rest of the world was laughing their asses off. I guess the McLaren guys were cheering them on as the Ferrari clowns ran by. iye, iye, iye
935k3 Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 (edited) Here is a picture and story about Ferrari's pit light that failed them on Masa's stop. F1 definitely has the best toys in racing. "What a mess they made. The traffic light system is a beautiful bit of work which is normally auto-operated by the movements of the fuel hose. Excellent thinking and application of clever ideas. But, either on auto or operated by the human hand(as at Felipe's stop), it seems a step too far and an example of a Formula one team getting too clever for their own good. From what I could tell, it is going to be scrapped either by Ferrari or the FIA. As you can see from these pics(taken at Singapore on Friday night) the unit itself is a thing of beauty(streamlined, carbon etc). Pity that henceforth, it is likely only to be seen in a museum."
