Curious, does anyone know if they (Fujmi) changed anything on the kit besides the box art, in the re-release?

Too me, it judging on the new box art, that the tail light housings we changed from the older version.

I see what you mean, the version i have looks to have similar looking lights but the housings are seperate parts from the body. Maybe the builder of this one smoothed them in

I don't have the re-issue but the original release the front lower fender is a separate pieces molded in clear plastic.

The rear should be a separate piece, the front should be blended in.

Be aware the fender flares are too wide to accurately represent the "R".  Still a great kit, the only version that includes the headers and the louvered glass.

I have the R, but never had a narrow body (is there one?) like the 69. R is a 67, so it should be SWB too, you can see in the fender behind door how short it is compared to later cars.

Is the R an actual short wheelbase car? It doesn't look to be, 69 is long car too IIRC. That'd be somewhat of a mess to shorten, never have seen swb resin.

The C series was introduced in August 1969 with an enlarged 2.2-litre engine (84 mm bore x 66 mm stroke). The wheelbase for all 911 and 912 models was increased from 2,211–2,268 mm (87.0–89.3 in), to help as a remedy to the car's nervous handling at the limit. The overall length of the car did not change, but the rear wheels were relocated further back. Fuel injection arrived for the 911S (901/10 engine) and for a new middle model, 911E (901/09 engine).

I'm not aware of a SWB kit (plastic or resin) ever being offered. The 911S kit has the narrow body style.

Thanks JC. I meant wheelbase shortening. Not huge work, flat pan, just annoying. Bummer. Can build Singer I guess, or a Magnus. Meh.

I always loved the 2.2 rear window decal.

Needed larger numbers for later cars. 3.4, 3.8. Bigger too, they were tiny decals.

I have a couple R's from trades, never looked hard at rear fenders. One's a parts car for a Lindberg 906.

Did you ever know Al Starr (RIP) in MAMA's btw?

Thanks.

Sorry Duke I don't recall Al Starr.   Although not fully flared the front fenders are also too wide (on the Fujimi 911R body).  See how the lip around the front wheel projects out past the front valance, not the case on the '67 "R"

I used the "R" kit to build a 911ST rally car.

I like it, suspected that was ST with the Minilites in back. Neat cars.

Front wheelwell always needs work too, looks like you radiused more arch in top.

Project to build 72 S with oil door, Bahia Red, 2.8 barrels with 46IDA's and headers/sport muffler may be doable. TIA for pics if you have time.

Here is the finished ST build.  I created the Minilites by combining the wheel center with a deep offset rim

Fujimi 911S kit is on the right, the 911R is on the left.

Thank you JC. Pretty big change for the one issue (that I recall). That's the perfect shell for a corrected swb  R or lwb 69-73 long hood non RS/ST. Minimal flares, take down the sill trim. I'd never really seen the normal coupe molding until now, not a real common kit that I've seen.

Moving the wheelwell not awful it seems. Just unsure if it rises high enough on the need scale to join the backlog. So many reasonably straightforward projects/resin. You guys are motivating me though. Sorry about leaky inner monologue on cost-benefit. ?:P

Thanks again JC. Learned stuff as always.

Yea Duke the 911S kit was the most difficult to find.  To the best of my knowledge this is the first time that it has been re-issued.
