Peugeot had an accident which hurt the car quite badly, but they were able to get it up and running within a 24-hour period. The Audis are on top of the time sheets. Should be a very interesting race. Also there are several gas/electric cars running. They will not be able to score points, but they will be able to qualify for Le Mans.

Humm, didn't see that, seen a Zytek crashed out.

I think I read somewhere that their is a green challenge for the race cars this year. I think there are 3 different types of alternative fuels being used.

Anyway, I have my Saturday planned out. Modeling and racing. Look forward to it.

Yup,

They already been fiesty in practice.

#9-P2 Acura ARX-01B: The left front suspension is broken and the left front wheel was in 2 pieces. All the left side bodywork including the rear wing is broken. The left rear looked semi-straight and right side was only covered in Georgia clay. The tub was damaged and will be replaced. Permission has been requested to install the new tub, and the team said the car will not be ready for the afternoon session and possibly not ready for the night practice.

#12-P1 Lola B06-10 AER: At the end of the session, the car spun at turn 10a and was immediately hit from the side by Seth Neiman (#44-GT2 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR). As a result the tub was cracked on the #12, causing fluid to leak. The car can not compete with its current damage and the team is having Elan Motorsports evaluate whether the car can be repaired. Until then the fate of the car is uncertain. The #44 Porsche has been repaired and will compete in the afternoon practice session.

At 03:32 pm, Seth Neiman (#44-GT2 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR) spun and stopped against the tire wall at the bottom of the esses. There is slight damage to both ends of the car, which continued. The driver reports the car was hit from behind. Stefan Johansson (#48-P1 Zytek 07S) is being given a 1-minute penalty for unnecessary contact – apparently it was he who hit the #44.

Top of the leader board after this afternoons practice session.

1: (1) #07-P1 (Peugeot 908) Stephane Sarrazin 1:06.952

2: (2) #1-P1 (Audi AG R10/TDI) Emanuele Pirro 1:07.080

3: (3) #2-P1 (Audi AG R10/TDI) Lucas Luhr 1:07.773

1: (4) #7-P2 (Porsche RS Spyder) Timo Bernhard 1:07.800

2: (5) #26-P2 (Acura ARX-01B) Franck Montagny 1:07.876

3: (6) #5-P2 (Porsche RS Spyder) Helio Castroneves 1:08.104

1: (18) #3-GT1 (Corvette C6.R) Johnny O`Connell 1:16.668

2: (19) #4-GT1 (Corvette C6.R) Olivier Beretta 1:16.825

1: (20) #62-GT2 (Ferrari F430 GT) Jaime Melo 1:19.252

2: (21) #28-GT2 (Chevrolet Riley Corvette C6) Marc Goossens 1:20.141

3: (22) #45-GT2 (Porsche 911 GT3 RSR) Joerg Bergmeister 1:20.157

There's Biodiesel, E85, and Hybrids which are gas/electric. The Hybrids cannot score any points, though, since there are no regulations in place for that class of engine/motor.

Don't forget tonight, they're supposed to be showing some of the qualifying on Speed.

When, I looked in the TV planner and didn't see anything.

Says it starts at 4 p.m. on the West Coast, which is about 10 minutes from now. It says it's a preview of the Petit LeMans.

The pre-race show on Speed last night wasn't very good. It seemed like they were doing a Nascar-style pre-race show that doesn't work for sports car racing. What they should have done was to show the cars out on the track and talk about the differences between the cars which I thought would have made it better. The only thing interesting that they had to say was Castroneves and his sister were indicted on federal charges of tax evasion in Florida.

I live about 35 mins. from Road Atlanta, have been going there for 30 years.

I'll be there tomorrow w/Kevin from Strada Sports and a couple other friends. They had a screwed up schedule today, they were running the Speed GT race at the same time they were having the autograph session in the pits w/the drivers. If you wanted autographs, you missed the race. And it was noisy as hell as a result...WTF were they thinking? Autograph time should be during quiet time. Is NASCAR running it now? Or the FIA? :P

Bob, take lots of pics. I enjoy seeing them.

I told the wife to pick up a meat/cheese cracker tray and some shrimp. Time in the man-cave with good eats.....

I just hope this Helio thing doesn't dominate their coverage. I've heard and read enough.

Kevin takes so many pics I don't even bother to take my camera :) I'm just there for the fun. But honestly, it's best to watch/follow the race on the tube. We'll likely leave late afternoon, get home, get pizza, and watch the end of the race in true comfort :P

I am green with envy! Well, at least I live closer than 30 minutes from the Alamo (lah tee dah). If you could please, tell Kevin that his company is fantastic. They are by far my favorite dealer. His service is great too. Have a fun and safe time.

Greg
