FoMoCo66 Posted Thursday at 11:39 PM Posted Thursday at 11:39 PM Got some paint work done on my 40 willy gasser wheels. I wanted magnesium with using what I have, 50/50 testors graphite gray metallic and testors flat steel. I think im satisfied with the results. 6
meechum68 Posted Friday at 02:12 AM Posted Friday at 02:12 AM I did a little detail work on the Skyline. I did the window trim, and I would say 5 out 10 on success, tomorrow I will post it. (First time I have actually done the trim usually it stays body color. So I am working on more detail.) I will clear the interior and then do my first go on dash decals. The Hudson is fully out of the bath, gonna give it a soap bath tomorrow and shoot to do primer Sat. If the grey lays right then white base coat, and then the Green I picked. If the grey doesn't play nice, bath again, and then black primer and very likely Blue or Red paint, maybe even Copper. Should have pics of the Skyline tomorrow. 1

TECHMAN Posted Friday at 06:46 PM Posted Friday at 06:46 PM Today, I decided to stir all the bottle paints........ Many of the bottles date back to 2004 up thru 2012...... Total of 180+ bottles, only about 40 of which were from the past five years. Only O N E of the early dated bottles had "turned to jello", but, 4 of the later-purchased had. And, ALL FOUR were ones that were Testor's enamel, and, all four were ones that I had "thinned down" with Testor's reducer....... Bill (ACE) had mentioned some time ago, that he thought they (Testor's) had changed their "formula", definately will side with him on this one! Have SEVERAL of the old dated that were thinned with their "earlier-version" type of thinners, and those were still quite usable. And all four of the ones that "died a horrible death" were thinned with the "current" version of their thinner. Just a word to the wise: You might want to try "other options" when thinning their enamel paints, unless you just like opening new bottles!!!!! 😒 DJ 1
catpack68 Posted Friday at 08:21 PM Posted Friday at 08:21 PM (edited) After stripping and repainting the body several times on the Hasegawa VW Type 2 pick up I started in April of last year, I finally got a paint job I can live with this afternoon. I decided to use another body from another kit since I plan to use that one as a donor for another VW pick up project I have in mind. Other than a few touchups,it’s ready for clear.i’m trying to finish up a few models before the end of the year. Edited Friday at 08:22 PM by catpack68 3
meechum68 Posted Saturday at 12:41 AM Posted Saturday at 12:41 AM I got the interior pieces for the Skyline painted pearl clear, once that's dry then it's decals, and clear. Then assembly of the interior tub. Got the Hudson washed and drying, shooting to get it back in primer tomorrow. 1
FoMoCo66 Posted Saturday at 02:56 AM Posted Saturday at 02:56 AM Got the body of my willys in the candy coat. Looks good right now. Got to let it bake in the dehydrator for a little. 3
meechum68 Posted Saturday at 03:05 AM Posted Saturday at 03:05 AM And I had a piece of something land on the Skyline ..and I rubbed it and it pulled the paint and back to the stripper tub it went. I will get the interior all done and will wait 2-3 days to scrub it again and start over. Round 3.... Skyline 2 Me 0... 1

Paint looks great! I saw this kit in a HobbyTown recently, and wondered if it's accurate to 1/24th scale?
FoMoCo66 Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago Decanted some of this rustoleum clear. Its pretty good and dries hard. The only problem is it comes out very orange peely from the rustoleum nosle. 1
JollySipper Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago This is the engine from the '90 Mustang kit and the transmission from the Deuce 5 window, each cut free from the rest of their short block sub-assembly. This was the first step in recreating my old car.......... The parts fit together pretty much perfect! 2
