I am glad to see Peugeot giving Audi some competition, but it wasn't enough to take the win. However, they did a good job spliting the Audis. McNish did a phenomenal job, as he wrecked the car in warm up and started the race two laps down to win over all for Audi 11 of 11 wins for audi at Petit LeMan. I don't understand why in the world Audi Motorsport is axing him.

1. Audi

2. Peugeot

3. Audi

LMP2

Bad day for Acura good day for Porsche. 3 of the 4 Acura cars crash out. One involved in a spectacular moment when one of the Flying Lizards in a head on collision with a prototype that spun on restart. It was a scary moment but all drivers are okay.

1. Porsche RS Spyder Penske

2. Porsche RS Spyder Penske

3. Porsche RS Spyder Penske

4. Porsche RS Spyder Dyson

5. Acura

6. Porsche RS Spyder Dyson

Bernhard/Dumas clinch the drivers championship with one race to go. The manufacture title is still up for grabs.

GT1

A Corvette wins!

GT2

After a peice of a drink bottle fell down and wedged it's self behind the throttle peddle the Risi Ferrari makes a come back from two laps down to take the win. They had a very fast car today, that wasn't much competition from the Porsches.

1. Ferrari Risi

2. Prosche Flying Lizards

3. Ferrari Tafel

However, the second from the Lizards clinch the driver championship for Bermeister/Henzler/Lieb. Team Tafel who was in contention for the championship couldn't seem to keep the car on track today.

Good racing another close finish.

Should be a great season next year.

Some other notes.

GT1 will probably be dropped altogether with Corvette's likely going to GT2 full time. They (Corvettes) are only planing 3 GT2 races.

BMW is coming online with a GT2 program as well.

Acura made the offical announcement they are going to LMP1 next year.

Penske rumored they are not returning next year - I think for a lack of competition if Acura is going to focus on P1, if that happens there may be a Lola/Porsche coupe in LMP1.

To bad for the Mazda coupe, which was demolished on warm up and was not able to compete. I would have liked to seen that car run.

Fun race to watch. Certainly Peugeot could have won with a more experienced driver in my opinion. The pass was hair raising to say the least! I know they had to of touched.

When that accident happened, WOW what an explosion of parts. Glad everyone was alright.

I was surprised the lizards weren't as strong as I thought they would be. Nice to see the Ferrari pull the win.

How about that GT1 class! WOW! Who'd have thought a Corvette would win! LOL

Yeah, Road Atlanta is a tricky track. I haven't been there since the flatten out the "jump" under the bridge, but I agree, Peugeot in general just need more experience to bump off Audi.

What a amzing crash that was.

The Lizards got hit with something yearlier this year that really put them down on performance from the Ferraris, or maybe Ferrari got an add - I don't remeber now if it was weight, ridehight, somthing or the new 430 is just that much better than the old Porsche RS.

The big difference is the rule change on CF chassis, which the Ferrari 430 GT is, Porsche isn't because it wasn't a legal chassis until recently. So the new 911 will be CF, and wider.

I know, Imagine that! Corvette wins GT1!

Just wait to see how they get spanked in GT2. They will have a pretty steep learning curve - especailly with a conventional chassis - they will have to have a new car befor too long, and with BMW tossed in the mix. It will be real hard on Corvette Racing if the plan on switching back and forth from GT1 to GT2 like they are planing next year.

I'm not sure you guys caught on to the race coverage, but when it came back on at 6:30 it was between 1-2 hours tape delayed. We left the track mid-afternoon and caught almost all of what we missed on TV. We watched the live feed on the internet until 6:30, then back to Speed. Then we saw eveything all over again...the race started at 11:15, and 10 hours later would have been 9:15, but the race ended at about 10:40 on Speed...we kept looking at the TV and the sun, and looking out the window and it was getting dark...

Seems to have been a record crowd. The economy and last week's lack of gas didn't seem to make a dent in attendance; last weekend if you could find gas at all you were waiting in a long line...by midweek it was plentiful again...still ridiculously overpriced, but available.

Great race, but way too much caution time. Something TV also minimized. I hope the driver of the Flying Lizard Porsche is okay after drilling the P2 car on that restart.

The Peugeot and Audi were both amazingly fast and quiet. They had a Jetta TDI cup race this morning; you couldn't even hear them going around the track. The Aston Martin GT2 car looks better than the DB9R IMHO, the idiots driving the black Viper made it a dangerous roadblock all day...we saw some real stupid moves in the chicanes and corners when he would take the racing line right in front of faster traffic...which was every car in the field. I never saw the Mazda before it was wadded up.

Fun day at the track!

Well, I taped the whole thing and watched it and it was very good. Audi won, this and only every other race although it is nice to see McNish win the three big ones and he's from Scotland which is awsome, I do adore him as a driver along with Kristensen who got the pole for the DTM race.

I think it was weight and ride height becasue they were so light and low. ;) The new 430 is a great matchup for the Porsche RS though. I forgot the 430 GT had a CF chassis, the new Porsches ought to be real good now!

Another Corvette wins in GT1, that was a close race with only one other car in the class! :o I can't for GT2 next year and BMW!! They need to decide GT1 or GT2, not sure on Aston though, we need Murcielagos, CCRs, Zondas, S7Rs, etc. and another Porsche GT1

I am glad Porsche dominated P2 and the championship, the Acura team just has been running everybody off the road, great car and platform but drivers? ehhh.. 4 Porsches in the top 5 though, oh yeah! Congrats to Bernhard and Dumas

I am pissed that the Mazda didn't get to run  and that will suck for Porshce in P2 but if they team up with Lola, that will be a good looking car with great performance.

And for the best, GT2, Tafel......STAY ON THE TRACK! Krohn didn't do too bad but them Risi boys, 24 Hours and the Petit. I like Jorg as a driver so it is nice to see them win with those ###### Lizards but hey, Ferrari still gave them competition. ;) Great and close racing. Can't wait for Laguna!

So for next year, gonna be a great season but no more GT1 and possibly P2?

Bob, at least you got to actaully GO to the race! and yes I also love the GT2 Aston. ;)

I'll be at the Laguna Seca race and will be taking pictures. Was wondering if anyone would like pictures of any particular car.

Lizards man the Lizards.

I doubt the Mazda/Lola coupe will be there but I'd like to see that car up close and personal.

The Lola is supposed to be there. They talked to the head guy for Mazda and they were going to have the car there. They just needed to replace a couple of pieces on the chassis from the accident at the Petit.

That would be cool. I didn't even see it at Petit until it was buried under a tire wall.

Are they racing it or just showing it?

Yeah, you gotta give them that, nothing sounds quite like a Ferrari.

The Lola is supposed to race. The car originally was planned to be debuted at Laguna Seca, but they received it early and had it for the Petit.

To let you guys know, the Porsche motors drown out the Ferrari motors. :P:D
