Hawk312 Posted February 8, 2020 Posted February 8, 2020 Do you guys know if there was ever a 1/16 by engine cast that would work well for a starting point for a Grand National or Turbo Firebird model in 1/16 scale? I cant think of any, and no luck on a google search. Thanks.
Fat Brian Posted February 8, 2020 Posted February 8, 2020 The Buick 231 uses basic Chevy style architecture so it looks pretty much like a 350 with two cylinders lopped off to all but the most knowledgeable folks. The 1/16 82 Firebird has a small block with relatively modern parts would be a start for a Grand National engine build.
Hawk312 Posted February 9, 2020 Author Posted February 9, 2020 Thanks Brian. Sounds like this will be an undertaking, if I decide to go ahead with it. I have a few of the 1/16 firebird models...I will have to take a closer look at the engine blocks.
Can-Con Posted February 9, 2020 Posted February 9, 2020 Those engines were based off the early Buick aluminum V8s, not Chevy so it looks about as much like a Chevy 350 with two cylinders lopped off as a V8 Ford or Mopar would.

What l was saying was the valve covers look pretty 350ish and the port spacing is the same style. They're totally different but having limited options in 1/16 a small block makes a reasonable starting point. Once it's in the bay the differences will be hard to spot to most viewers.
