philo426 Posted March 14, 2020 Posted March 14, 2020 Cockpit detail is good the photo etched parts are tiny.
cobraman Posted March 15, 2020 Posted March 15, 2020 Looks good ! I can not do that tiny stuff anymore. Want to, just can't.
philo426 Posted March 16, 2020 Author Posted March 16, 2020 Fuselage halves joined...some body work will be required.
philo426 Posted March 18, 2020 Author Posted March 18, 2020 There were pronounced gaps at the wing roots...so I made styrene fillets and will grind them down when the glue sets.
philo426 Posted March 21, 2020 Author Posted March 21, 2020 (edited) Mask and shields applied to protect the blue underside when the brown cammo is applied. Edited March 21, 2020 by philo426
Snake45 Posted March 21, 2020 Posted March 21, 2020 Ah, so THAT's what it's supposed to look like! Drive on!
Mike999 Posted March 22, 2020 Posted March 22, 2020 Great work so far! And a LOT of great work! I like obscure aircraft too. The Bombay is so obscure I'd never heard of it, and had to do a search. A combination transport/bomber. Reminds me a little of the Vultee V1, originally built as a single-engine airliner. When the FAA banned single-engine passenger planes, a few V1's were sold to Spain and used as bombers in their civil war. AZUR makes a short-run 1/72 scale kit of that plane. VALOM makes a lot of weird aircraft kits, all of them...challenging to build, like your Bombay. One of the world's best modelers, Steve Zaloga, took on their 1/72 scale Bell YFM-1 Airacuda. He got it done and it looked great, but he gave it a one-word review: "crappy." Still, for weird, it's hard to beat a twin-engine pusher "heavy fighter" with 37mm cannons in the front of the nacelles.
philo426 Posted March 22, 2020 Author Posted March 22, 2020 Yes I have heatd if that kit..I don't think this kit is crappy but it came be a challenge due to the photo etched parts.Should be down hill from here !
cobraman Posted March 24, 2020 Posted March 24, 2020 Looks great ! I really like to build planes but they take up so much room I haven't done one since I built a Staggerwing a few years ago. I did order a plane kit a few days ago.
philo426 Posted March 24, 2020 Author Posted March 24, 2020 Yes they do take up space you can hang them from the ceiling.
