I think it's part of the McCulloch blower system that Ford offered on the 1956-1957 (+/-) Y-block V8s.  See if you can spot a 2-carb manifold among your parts.  I'm sure I've seen this engine built that way in one of these kits.

I think the 2-carb manifold is already on the engine.

Wow, somehow I managed to completely overlook that.  Apparently I got to focusing on the picture I posted instead of the kit's engine.  I blame it on my self-quarantine situation.

A little something from feebay.
Shaved, de-badged and reshaped top edge.
Any idea what the circled part is?

This kit had an engine option of 2 four barrel carbs., and a super charger. The super charger mounts to the right side outer pully on the fan belts. The ducting from the rear of the super charger splits into a "Y" and that mounts to the air cleaners. This represents the old Paxton super charger that was produced first for Studebaker and Ford products. They were located in Santa Monica Cal., on Olympic Blvd.

I did find this and I think I can make it work.

You could do that and work it around with the kits single 4 barrel and just make a tubing from the super charger to the standard carb. if you prefer. For the ease of using the kits fan belt just mount the super charger in that position. This is from the era of floating Alt. and super chargers so a little scrap of plastic would make a great looking mounting bracket between the engine and the housing. I like the stance and the wheel choice goes well with it.
