You guy's are right. The PPP wheels are much nicer and deeper! Thanks!!  On 7/23/2020 at 4:26 PM, Radar43 said: Gerald, I would use period correct PPP tires and wheels. I think they look and scale to the car just a bit nicer.  Â
gks1964 Posted July 25, 2020 Author Posted July 25, 2020 Think that I should have painted the upper chassis black instead of gray! Thanks Howard

Radar43 Posted July 26, 2020 Posted July 26, 2020 Gerald, here is the orange and white Mercury I told you about.  Now this would be sweet. Â
Radar43 Posted July 26, 2020 Posted July 26, 2020 If anyone can shed some light on this car that would be great. Darrell Waltrip in a Late Model car at Daytona or a Cup car owned by James Hylton and DW brought his sponsor to the car for that race. Questions that need answers.......
Radar43 Posted July 27, 2020 Posted July 27, 2020 More research this evening revealed to me this was a car Darrell drove in the 1974 Permatex 300 at Daytona. Not a Cup car.
gks1964 Posted July 29, 2020 Author Posted July 29, 2020 Trying to finish the engine and found a firing order drawing if it is of interest to anyone.
Force Posted July 30, 2020 Posted July 30, 2020 Most Older Ford V8's like the small block 260-302, the FE series 332-428 and the 385 series 429-460 has this 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 firing order. The 351 Windsor and the 335 series 351 Cleveland, 351M and 400 has a different firing order, 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8. And finally the Flatheads and Y-block has 1-5-4-8-6-3-7-2...and Ford has the cylinders numbered 1234 on the passenger side and 5678 och the drivers side on all of their V8's.

I’m going to make an uneducated guess that this is the same car. It aged out of cup in 73. So it probably went down to the Permetex series. This was common.
gks1964 Posted August 11, 2020 Author Posted August 11, 2020 Anyone know if this car ran with one front windshield brace or two?
gks1964 Posted August 12, 2020 Author Posted August 12, 2020 I enlarged the reference pix and I only see one brace, I'll go with that!
gks1964 Posted August 18, 2020 Author Posted August 18, 2020 Well got the Gold on the body. Getting the engine to sit level is still giving me fits!!
MarkJ Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 That looks great Gerald. What brand of gold did you use?

gks1964 Posted August 26, 2020 Author Posted August 26, 2020 After a week of running around, I finally get the engine in! Need to finish assembling the chassis now.
gks1964 Posted August 28, 2020 Author Posted August 28, 2020 Finally got the Metallic brown paint on! Do the clear coat and decals this weekend!
gks1964 Posted September 7, 2020 Author Posted September 7, 2020 Spent the Labor Day weekend working on the decals and clear cote.
