Hotrod 97 Posted May 26, 2020 Posted May 26, 2020 I was going through the old collection and I found these. Two general aviation aircraft in need of restoration. Pretty sure they're a Piper Cherokee and Cessna Skyhawk, but not 100% sure about that. Can anyone tell me what they are and who made them? I have some more pics if needed. TIA
Mark IV Posted May 26, 2020 Posted May 26, 2020 (edited) The "V" tail aircraft is a Beachcraft Bonanza not a "Piper Cherokee" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beechcraft_Bonanza The blue/white is a Cessna 150 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cessna_150 Edited May 26, 2020 by Mark IV Spellink
keyser Posted May 26, 2020 Posted May 26, 2020 (edited) https://minicraftmodels.com/collections/private-aviation Been issued over years by a number of companies, in current catalog at Academy Beechcraft Bonanza V35A, and a Cessna 172. They do a floatplane 172, and a straight tailed Bonanza F33 as well, see link. Edited May 26, 2020 by keyser spelling
Snake45 Posted May 26, 2020 Posted May 26, 2020 I concur that the Cessna is a 150, not a 172. Different airplane (though a definite family resemblance). About 30 years ago I started trying to convert one of these to an L-19, just because there was nothing else available to start with. Just as I was nearing completion on it, OF COURSE someone released a very acceptable L-19 kit. Happens every time!

Alright then, the next time I wish someone would come out with a kit I'd like, I'll just have you start a conversion. Thanks Snake.

Thanks Snake. That's how we finally got the AMT 1/48 A-20 Havoc. Friend of mine had just spent over a year working on a vacform when it was announced. Also, y'all can thank me for the reissue of the Revell '66 Impala. I just bought a couple restorable promos and original glue bombs on eBay. Oh well I think the AMT body is better shaped anyway.
Hotrod 97 Posted May 26, 2020 Author Posted May 26, 2020 Thank you all very much for the info. I know a good bit about military aircraft, but precious little about civilian planes. Your help is greatly appreciated.
