Excuse my ignorance here, but I assume this was a hot car for it's time?   This in no way excites me as a model builder.  BUT, the parts look like it would build an EXCELLENT replica.  Almost so nice that I can almost imagine building it even though it absolutely goes with NOTHING in my collection.

Most versions were very straightforward and unsporting, but the Turbo models were quite a hot thing back in the day and they formed the basis for rally cars.

Styling on them was comically angular.

Basically, what you're looking at here is "Genesis" for what would become the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution family of rally-bred turbo sedans. In terms of Japanese performance cars, it carries a fair bit of historical importance for its place in starting the line that would culminate in the WRC winning turbo AWD Evos.

GReat!  Thanks for the additional information.  I guess that does make sense, but it's sucha plain looking car.  ?
