Good to see Lance Stroll following in the footsteps of great American F1 drivers s like Phil Hill and Mario Andretti (I know Mario was born in Italy, but he was a US citizen).

And another Lance in motorsport , after Lance Macklin and Lance Graf von Haugwitz-Hardenberg-Reventlow, to give him his full name.

I'd always thought they were Americans too, but Macklin was a born and bred Englishman (he was involved in the infamous 1955 LeMans disaster) in while Lance Reventlow was actually born in London, although again was a US citizen.

But now it's Lance's turn and he confounded his critics ('he's only there because Daddy bought the team'!) by qualifying 3rd on the grid for the Hungarian Grand Prix and finishing the race a fine 4th, narrowly missing a podium. Great stuff!

Yeah, dad essentially bought him a team to race for, but to even get to this level, you have to be good.

Great to see Lance getting some success now.

And actually, I've really enjoyed this season so far.

Despite the fact that Mercedes will walk away with both the manufacturer's title and the driver's championship this season, most of the rest of the field is close.

Racing Point are both performing well. McLaren have been up there. Renault are getting their groove on.

And I was really happy to see Williams get both drivers out of Q1, and not just because others broke down or crashed! They actually qualified on their own merit.

And even with Mercedes' dominance, they're still exciting. Will it be Hamilton on top or Bottas? At this point, it's pretty close. Although team orders will no doubt come in to play.

I agree, plenty of proper racing! I also enjoy Hamilton's virtuosity, his sheer artistry in a racing car.

No doubt. Lewis is arguably the greatest driver F1 has seen. He just dominates everything, and does it so smoothly and so well. And he does so without being a prima dona about it. I like that he actually admits to his mistakes, and never takes credit for his successes. Unlike Verstappen, who is an excellent driver, but always has excuses and blame when things don't go his way.

I would argue differently but not on this forum. Have payed close attention to F1 for many years and seen enough to disagree with your synopsis. Nothing to do with there personal lives, strictly on track by the way.

As far as Lance is concerned, being stuck in a slow, poor preforming car  will make the best drivers appear deficient.

I'm glad for him and hope that the future driver situation isn't causing too much stress in the Stroll household.

I'm all for a midfield or even back marker team to bring some entertainment value to the circus.

But that new, what they now call Black Arrow is an amazing car with a fantastic pilot. ?

Lance Stroll is Canadian right? He has struggled for awhile but seems to be improving.

My mistake, now I know better. He surely is Canadian!
