A friend of mine asked if I could replicate his friend's track car, a BMW M3 GTS with track mods and a unique lime green wrap. See pics.

Found the Kyosho model online for a reasonable price.

She's now dismantled and being prepped for interior mods and a new paint job. Need to commission the decals and make new aero aids front and rear.

Also need to source carbon fiber decals for hood and trunk.

Pics show wheels and interior tray primed.

Everything came apart pretty well with little fuss.

The wrap color is Avery Gloss Lime Green.

Cheers....Geoff

Oh and by the way, in case you're wondering, that's my wife's 1/12 scale dollhouse in the background.

I'm running out of bench space so have muscled in on hers ......while she's not around to see!!!

Further strip down today and masking of body shell...

I only hope I remember how to put it all back together!!

Had to use the good old Dewalt to drill out a couple of overtight screws.

Cheers......Geoff

Guys,

There's going to be a slight delay in getting this one done as the Covid-19 restrictions here in Victoria, Australia mean that I can't get to the paint shop to pick up the colours I need for this car.

So my focus will shift to crafting the air dam and rear wing, and rest of the rollcage for the interior. Pics will follow as
I make some progress.

Cheers.....Geoff

Teardown now complete and work started on rollcage additions.

For some reason my superglue isn't holding too well unless left overnight to cure completely....might be time to buy some new stuff.

Thanks JT. Still waiting for paint shop tp tell me they can do my colour in a spray can.

Also, the weather has been fine so I have been working outside on some fencing.

Hopefully I'll be back at the bench later this week.

A wet day outside so more time at the bench today.

So far, I have fashioned the new rear wing and support struts.

The rollcage additions are also going well.

Another wet and dreary day in iso.

Starting to get primer and top coats onto various body parts.

A few retouches required.

Whilst waiting for putty and paint to set and dry out, got busy in CorelDraw putting the decal set together.

Just a few more scripts and images to go.

That looks like a cool program to work with... I need to check that one out...

CorelDraw is a great program.   Just make sure to buy an older version that doesn't require a subscription.   I've been using X3 (13) for probably 10 years now at work.   The only problem I encounter is that it won't always open PDFs created on newer versions than X3 can support.  Draw is a vector program (lines) where Photopaint is similar to photoshop and does jpg and photos (raster graphics).  If you can get a full set of 4 discs, you will get the entire suite that includes both and a ton of fonts and grahics.  Shouldn't be too expensive at this point?

A great day to start laying some colour down.

Red interior done with rattle can enamel. Lime Green exterior (first coat) with rattle can described previously in this post.

A decent representation of safety harnesses made with sliced up post it note paper (painted with paint pen), sprue tabs and scrap plastic.

They look the part. I might even put the brand decals on them when printed.
