Bainford Posted November 1, 2020 Posted November 1, 2020 A few years ago I began a restoration on a ‘74 Charger I built in the early 80s, including replacing the body which was painted Testors dk green. My project stalled when I realized Testors no longer makes dk green. So now I’m on the hunt for a bottle or two of vintage paint, but first I need to know the catalog number. For example, Testors gloss green is 1124. I’ve been googling for over an hour but can’t find the number for dark green. Does anyone know the number for gloss dark green? Or know where to find a Testors colour chart from the 70s or 80s? I have no idea when this colour was discontinued, but probably the last one I bought was when I painted the Charger in 1982.
Snake45 Posted November 1, 2020 Posted November 1, 2020 See the color chart in this thread: Not sure they ever had a dark green in a spray. You sure it wasn't Pactra?
Bainford Posted November 1, 2020 Author Posted November 1, 2020 Cheers Snake. Quite helpful. The paint I used was definitely Testors from the 1/4 oz bottle. From that chart I would guess the number is 1123, or possibly 1121. Hard to tell for sure, but that’s a start.
Snake45 Posted November 1, 2020 Posted November 1, 2020 1121 is still around but they now call it a brown. 1123 is long OOP. Chances are slim on finding any, unless someone here just happens to have some, or it turns up on eBay or something. You might be able to mix up a green that will be a close enough match for touchup. Good luck with it.
tbill Posted November 2, 2020 Posted November 2, 2020 Check the trading post section here, a member has a ton of little testors bottle paint for trade, maybe a bottle or two of it in there?
Bainford Posted November 2, 2020 Author Posted November 2, 2020 Thanks Snake. I'm pretty sure it is 1123 that I'm looking for. Thanks Tom for the tip. Cheers.
