whatsup Posted January 28, 2021 Posted January 28, 2021 What the heck is going on with the cost of motorcycle models? I was monitoring them, my specific favorite, a Honda 750cc, I backed off for a few months and now... holy cow! $400 for a model that only a few months ago was going for $35-45 dollars. It can't be inflation or increase in manufacturing costs, they are already made, years ago. Supply and demand? Greed? Help me out, what the heck is going on? I refused to support this kind of BS. I'll wait for the prices to come down to more reasonable numbers or do without. OK, rant over.
Demerovingian Posted January 28, 2021 Posted January 28, 2021 To be honest all the models lately have oddly gone through the roof. I too was looking for a few Tamiya motorcycle kits and I was supremely surprised to see a $30 kit that was a dime a dozen a few hundred dollars. What’s odd is whereas some models are overpriced I can’t get rid of this Pocher Rolls Royce kit that’s new!
Pete J. Posted January 28, 2021 Posted January 28, 2021 Odd, I don't see that. Where did you see those prices? 1:12 scale are allover eBay for $20 to $60. 1:6 is a different story but that is to be expected. They are a bit more rare. Buy the way, when I look at prices on eBay I use completed/sold as a gauge. What someone is asking is certainly not the going rate.
steveracer Posted January 28, 2021 Posted January 28, 2021 To support Pete’s comment. There are a LOT of items on eBay that have real high starting prices. Looking for that one uninformed person to make the purchase. There is NO cost to list anything at any price. It’s free. I have even seen some mundane items listed at over a thousand dollars. Not sure what those may be for, perhaps drive traffic to the eBay store when “most expensive” is selected to sort out searches.
GMP440 Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 Same thing going on with the motocross dirtbike models The Roger Decoster and other bikes are going for good money on ebay.
