Supersport65 Posted February 26, 2021 Author Posted February 26, 2021 Btw there may not be much activity in this thread for a while. These fenders are going on the replica of my late uncle Roy’s truck. He had a 79 Ford. I need more details and it is in Seattle and I am in North Saanich British Columbia. He called her Big Red!
Supersport65 Posted February 26, 2021 Author Posted February 26, 2021 Comparison of stock fenders to what I have done.
mikemodeler Posted February 28, 2021 Posted February 28, 2021 Kris Morgan at Morgan Auto Detail has this bed conversion already done in resin if you want to go that route. Its a shame AMT chose that bed to replicate instead of the regular wheel base one.
bisc63 Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 What am I missing here? What is the issue with the kit bed? Nice project, by the way!

The AMT kit represents the uncommon "camper special" which had an extra long wheelbase, not the regular long wheelbase you usually see.
bisc63 Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 Oh, sorta like Chevy's "Longhorn" trucks of the late 60's/early 70s?! Good to know.

The Longhorn bed was longer overall. The Ford Super Camper bed was still 8' but the wheel opening was about 10 inches further back than on a regular 8' bed.

Sorry for the late reply as stated already the camper specials wheelbase was move at least 5-10 inches back and about 3 inches higher. So I moved the wheel well forward and down. Still more work to do but the jist is there.
