As most of you know by now, Im a cadillac nut! I love the Big bodies, the crisp lines, sharp edges.... and most of all.... the fins!

here is a 64 deVille on my work bench right now. I dont have any photos at the moment, but i have a real 64 deVille 2dr hardtop, and a 64 deVille convertible. the convertible which is undergoing a full resto (by myself)

anyways here is my take on this vintage kit.

DSCF7651.jpg

DSCF7688.jpg

this kit started out as a solid body, with opening hood. I decided to open it all up.

DSCF7653.jpg

I started with the trunk, creating a weather striping and jamb

DSCF7655.jpg

then moved onto the doors

DSCF7923.jpg

next came the trunk

DSCF7915.jpg

DSCF7920.jpg

it still needs lots of work.... but thats how it sits as of 10 minutes ago! enjoy!

here is a shot of my 1:1 convertible project, beside my fathers 64 acadian beaumont sport deluxe convertible

Yeah...you just gotta love the BIG fins!! Of all the various features and styles we've seen over the years, that's one that probably will never return...

Keep up the good work and the posts!!

since im doing a new style cruiser with this old johan kit.... new 20"s and an air setup.

DSCF7688-1.jpg

should i leave the interior stock looking:

DSCF7979.jpg

or cut it up and do a new leather style interior (of course i would use the matching buckets, but rework whem so they dont look like racing seats.

If it were me, and I were going the same route as you, I would put an updated interior in it. Yesterday, I took a look at a '63 Coupe that I am restoring. I stripped the body side mouldings from the car, in order to do a custom Eldorado Coupe. This is a long term project, which is in the planning stages.

If your going to up date it with the bags and 20's may as well go for the interior up date also. I like the work you have done to open up the body panels and such. Then you lost me on the 20's not a fan of big wheels. I will still watch too see how you hinge the doors and trunk and other mods you make.

trust me... you dont want a tkm kit!!! I only bought the sts because I had a 92, and wanted to replicate it..... its is way way out of proportion, thick/thin slushcast, basically a hunk of resin junk, lol. I would never wish a tkm upon anyone, lol.

I dnt have pics of the eldo at the moment... its in the shop in the "will never build pile" lol warped body flash on the windows is about 1/4 inch thick.

heres the STS monstrosity

like I said before... I only build rare cadillacs, lol. heres some of my "in the works" and such

the 4 door resin Fleetwood Brougham ( big body) was availible through "Betos customs" but he has since sold the mold, and "bodine" has it now, I believe he is on here. you may be able to talk to him about one. They are also available on ebay from a seller "twinn" his casts are nice too. just search resin big body.

as for the tkm.... i would stay away, lol. If I find the eldo ill get pics for you.

That's a good start, I am definitely going to be checking back in on this one!

I have 2 questions for you though:

1. What kit is the rear seat from?

2. Do you know if they have a body available for the late 80's early 90's Deville?

The reason I'm asking is I have a '93 Deville 60 Series that I would love to have a scale replica of.

Thanks and keep up the updates!

as far as I know, no one makes a deville.

well , I couldnt find any seats that matched the rear seat im using, and the front seats looked to "racey).... so I bulked em up a bit, by adding styrine, and shaving it to the shape I wanted with a razor knife.

Mike, thanks for the heads up on TKM, I appericiate it.An I'll look for Bodine, Thanks!

there are a couple topics in the "resin" section regarding TKM Resins quality.... or lack thereof :o

the interior you are building reminds me of Raul Perez' 58 Impala he built.....

This is a very nice build so far....I really like your opening up the doors and such...nice, also, I like how you are using the 57 Ford optional interior, looks good for this car.....one question though, why do you limit yourself to just Caddy's??? Loyalty to a mark is one thing...but, geeeze's, there are some other worthwhile cars out there to build.

Peter, you have to understand the "self made man" (pun intended) he's a Caddy man through and through, though he has built some other worthwhile cars, or at least started some. B)

WoW a 60 being restored and not a parts doner for a 59. I think the 1960 is a much cleaner style than the 59, nice to see the coupe being restored.

I love your 64 too, last of the big finned models but not keen on that steering wheel at all.

The main thing for me, is I like building the different stuff that no one else builds, so with this stuff, when I go to a show (never done a contest) no one has anything like my work. Most people wont spend the money on a johan kit, to build it, so I dont have to worry about anyone at local shows having what I have..... plus the fact that Im a Caddy man!

I am however going to be starting on a 32 ford hot/rat rod.... powered by... you guessed it, a cadillac 365!

Thank you for letting me know.

With the question marks behind the previous statement about where the seats came from, I wasn't sure about it.

I am wanting something similar to that design so I can try to update the interior of one of the street rods I started building years ago and recently pulled out of the box to see where I was at on it. Looks like I'm going to be diving into the boxes of models I have once more to see if I have the Ford kit to rob the seat from. Hopefully when I start cutting it down to fit in the body I won't kill it too bad.

I haven't seen any bodies for the 80's to 90's Deville either. After seeing how many resin bodies you have in the background of your pictures, I was thinking if someone might know it would be you. Looks like I'm out of luck as usual.

Thanks again,

-Scott H.
