I have built a couple of MFH kits. Some of them are about the same as the Studio 27, but the more expensive ones are far better. I built a Ferrari for a customer that had so much detail that I swore I'd never touch a kit like that again. (started pulling out my hair there was so much to do) My customer really liked it though. I also built one of their Aston Martins. Very nice body but no detail on the interior. Some decal fit issues. But that was one of their less expensive kits...about $150 I think. Also built E.Jan which is part of MFH. Their Maserati MC12...kind of the same thing as the Aston. Nice body, but no interior detail. They're worth the price but they should be a little cheaper than what they're asking.

Finally got the holes filled in. Just need to put down some primer and then I'll be doing a 3-step paint system to get almost a florescent red...like the color on the 2006-07 Ferrari F-1 car.

Shot the white primer down and then laid the pink. Kind of a pepto bismo color. Next will be the TS-49 bright red, followed by TS-36 Florescent red. Need to do some light sanding between coats. Hopefully I'll have the body completely painted in a week or so.

Wow, Brendan!! You weren't kidding when you said Pepto Bismol pink!!

I can't wait to see this one finished at the NNL West!!

Later,

Nick , maybe if someone makes a trans kit. The $200ish price tag now is a little steep. I might do a 360. Scale production offers a trans kit. I think it is for a challenge car though. Got enough creative juices to make something happen. Just got to many other thing that need to be done first.

Shot the red and the florescent red on. It looks pretty close to what I wanted. The guys at the gpma.org really helped me out about getting the right color. (all colors were decanted and airbrushed)

Here's some pictures of the car in Tamiya's TS-49.

Here it is with Tamiya's TS-36 with the clear coat. And yes, it is supposed to be that florescent of a red. It does hurt the eyes a little. B)

Still need to get the black on the side vents and in around the windows, but I'm going to wait a whilte to get those done. Also going to paint the interior a gloss aluminum.

Nice paint work Brendon.

I had to figure out that florescent red over red on my own about a year ago when I did a Ferrari F1 by Studio 27. When I was at the race I couldn't figure out how the car actually looked brighter under a cloudy sky. Then I was decanting some flourescent red for another project and saw that it was clear and the light bulb went off over my head.

Anyway, very nice and I can't wait until you get the decals on it.

Happy New Year!!!!!

Nick, probably won't make it to the NNL East unless my friend Bill or Mark go and they may take it with them to help sell kits at the show.

Jim, I figured it out a long time ago but I forgot how I did the color. The guys at the GPMA reminded me how to do it. I've done it with a couple of Tamiya's other transparent colors for the Repsol colors, especially the orange. One of these days I'm going to take all their colors and make a paint chart and show what different combinations you can get from them.

Very, very nice... ;)

I've played around with Tamiya's clear spray (orange, red, blue, etc) paints, but it never dawned on me the flourescent paint was a clear paint as well...gonna have to play around with it on one of those Ferrari kits I've got.

Lookin' forward to seein' this car at the NNL West :D

c'ya there...

Got the decals on. Decals are very nicely printed, but there are quite a few problems with them. The decals are so thick that you can't get them to go over rounded surfaces even with solvent. You basically only have one chance of putting them in the right place. Otherwise forget about it. The kit instructions are completely wrong for some of the placements for the decals. I was glad I had reference photos from Etienne (Renaissance resin company). Other issues were several decals were either miscolored or improperly sized for the kit (mostly too big). The biggest thing that struck me were that the big main decals were the ones miscolored. I can't believe that they missed that. The Realtime Worlds is a good example of their mistake. Should be black lettering inside along with the white border.

Here's a link to the reference photos that I used.

Need to wash the car and I'll shoot the clear on tonight...hopefully.
