Mr. Metallic Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 Well, I finally scored one of the Revell choppers last weekend. I told myself not to start it yet, as I had too many projects going on. But I decided to open the box and check it out. Well, it just started falling together , and now I can't stop. This kit is great. I've made afew subtle changes. See if you can notice them. (I know the pic is a white bike with a white background, but you get the idea.) Think "exile" style on this bike, if you know what I mean. The wheels are just for mock-up purposes. Haven't decided to use the wires or fab my own rear wheel. Now here's some paint booth progress on my Barris xm-120 tribute. Hope to have the rest of the orange nailed down by tonight. And here's the final mock-up before paint. As always, comments and questions are welcome, and feel free to check out these albums for more pics. http://public.fotki.com/crstan/noslow-moti...ects/page3.html
Wildrice Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 Nice start on the bike. That car is looking sweet. What body/kit is that?
BIGTRUCK Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 Craig, the Barris tribute is a sharp lookin build...if thats the Jimmy Flintstones salt flat body I like your take on it much better, nice job....
Jairus Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 Is it just me or do these bikes seem to ride too high? Choppers should rider a lot lower and my bike will be cut right down to Terra Firma! Nice start on that street rod. The use of a 3 window instead of a 5 was probably not your choice but I think it's a better one. NOW, get it done!
Mr. Metallic Posted September 17, 2006 Author Posted September 17, 2006 Nice start on the bike. That car is looking sweet. What body/kit is that? It's a Jimmy Flintstone "kit" It's a body, front axle, wheels/tires(cast together), belly pan, and one side pipe. It's one of his older peices, so the body casting is heavy, not like his newer stuff. I threw a different set of wheels at it, replaced the front suspension, added another side pipe to make it a matched set, and smoothed the body. It's just supposed to be a quicky, which it is actually turning out to be. Hope to have it finished by next weekend.

I shortened my front forks, so it rides a little lower. I want my next one much lower, but it seems like it will be quite a bit of work on the frame to lower that rear end, at least on the Aces frame(hard tail, blue on box). I was just looking to do something different with that flintstone body, so that's why it's a three window. I've seen quite a few cool builds of this body, here's a couple Built by Jeremy Schirm Not sure who built this one
monsterman Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 Looking great Mr. Metallic! I picked up that very same bike model a few days ago on ebay and had a blast putting it together. Since just getting back into model building I didnt do really anything fancy. I still need to catch up on all the tricks, tips, etc I missed out on all these years of not building. But I like the ideas you have. I plan to pick up another maybe 2 and see what I can do to them! Keep up the cool work! Here's a few of mine still needs some plug wire, maybe brake line, etc "remember its nothing fancy" http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f270/Cru2/DSCN0359-1.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f270/Cru2/DSCN0360.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f270/Cru2/DSCN0362-1.jpg
Mr. Metallic Posted September 23, 2006 Author Posted September 23, 2006 I finally got around to buying a Crusader after having so much fun with my Aces Wild, and couldn't force myself to wait to start it, so here it is Created a new fork location tube to rake out the kit frontend. Modified the fender into a shorty and cut the tank so it sits lower. Here it is next to my Aces Wild based bike, now called Xile. Here's some progress on Xile. The frame and downtubes will be painted black, with the tins staying silver. Also, this is the first mockup with the kit wire wheels. And lastly here is the finished paintjob on XM-2006. Just need to button up some overspray and put it all together. As always, comments and questions welcome. Follow the link for more http://public.fotki.com/crstan/noslow-moti...ects/page3.html
Matt T. Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 The raked out Crusader looks great! I had that one first, then got an Aces Wild a few weeks back. My Aces will be raked like yours. Keep up the great work!
