The Creative Explorer Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 (edited) A new week, a new project. This project has been in my head for more than a year or so. But never came to it. Although recently I purchased the 1940 Sedan/Delivery, this could be a nice foundation for the project in my head. Time was consuming and most of it went to my Christine project. What I had left, I used it for my Ferrari Daytona. But the Christine's are mostly in the painting-stage and there is a lot of time in between. Time which I was going to use to start on a Fujimi Enthusiast BMW 635. It did not really got me motivated and I wanted to build something pre-war again. So, the idea popped back up in my head again today and I went to the model-pile. I dug out the Sedan Delivery and I went to my desk, next was getting a pair of 18 Inch BBS from Fujimi and I got them underneath. Yeah, this could work. Enthusiastic about, I started to get the suspension parts out of the box and fixed them, so I could determine the ride-height. It needed to be low, but not non-plus-ultra. I came to the conclusion that the old rear-axle was not going to work, so I made a new axle from a little bit of sprue. I cut out the old axle and got the new axle mounted to the rear-dif. I had now my ride-height in the back. I started with the front and with leaf-springs up front too, I also decided to modernise that. So the old axle went and I made a new one in the rough. There is the choice of a flathead V8 or buick overhead cam V8 and I went with the last one, I might want to add a charger, but depends on the room between underneath the bonnet, I don't want to cut a hole. The Creative Explorer Posted December 9, 2008 Author Posted December 9, 2008 Sorry Mike to disappoint you, but I am not going to make major changes to the outside. I want a clean mild custom, with a different view than usual, hence the BBS ;-)

The Creative Explorer Posted December 12, 2008 Author Posted December 12, 2008 Thanks guys! Very much appreciated. I am trying to get a one-of-a-kind look, and I hope I can pull it off. I also have an idea for the paintjob, which is coming back in the interior. The car will get a original livery of the 'Friesche Vlag' (Frisian Flag)-brand from the 40's. So the lower part will be dark-blue, the top will be white and I am thinking of a red line to separate the colors. I have been working a lot in the last couple of days and basically finished up the interior ( I am waiting for PE seatbelts to arrive ) and the engine. Next week I am going to start painting the chassis and the body. So far the hood has been a big pain in the butt, it is very bad. It just doesn't align at all and on top warped. I cut the hinges of and going to make some myself. It is just too bad. I need to get used to the springs on the carberettor a little more, the cost me now about an hour each and I am not satisfied with the result yet. Anyway; let some pictures do some more talking:
GOTH KUSTOMS Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 UMMMMMM Like wow! man, like the detail on the engine, great start...
The Creative Explorer Posted December 21, 2008 Author Posted December 21, 2008 So, work is stalling on this little demon a little. I gave the body it's white coat, but weirdly the primer has a hard time staying on the body. So I had to respray it partly today. The fenders are sprayed today in a dark-blue shade, so I hope that will give me the right look. I filled the rear-light thingies in the rear-fenders, for a more sleek look and I finished the interior.
