chris chabre Posted August 1, 2021 Posted August 1, 2021 If not allowed here, please move to the proper location. Looking to see Drag strip dioramas, tips, tricks etc. Thanks everyone!
John Pol Posted August 1, 2021 Posted August 1, 2021 There was someone that had a drag strip in SAE magazine
chepp Posted August 1, 2021 Posted August 1, 2021 Here's my only attempt, circa 1969. The cars are 1/25 scale. The pavement is an old weathered beat-up wood plank that I painted black and added white striping to. The fence is a thin piece of wood painted flat black with images cut from car magazines glued on and the crowd is from a magazine centerfold photo of a dragster at the strip. Unfortunately, the Christmas tree is a crude-looking homemade one that I built that actually functioned — the green lights are on in the photo.
Bills72sj Posted August 1, 2021 Posted August 1, 2021 Just use some imagination like Charley did. A paint stick for a barrier, textured paint for the asphalt, a couple of scale track workers. It all depends on the space you have and how much detail you want. For photography purposes make sure you light source direction corresponds with the shadowing of whatever photographic background is used.
chris chabre Posted August 6, 2021 Author Posted August 6, 2021 thanks guys. I was almost thinking about using skateboard grip tape as my road surface. It would be a simple diorama as I plan to keep it very 60s era looking/outlaw trackish. Time to start doing some research
