It was said they will only do the Gen 6 cars if they can get the tooling from Revell

Where are those CAD drawings posted?, in the Salvino's Group page ?

These are screenshots from the weekly Saturday show.

Except we've been getting models like this in the past and they sold just fine. I have no problem with this because building these represents a piece of history but maybe business decisions and modelers have changed their thoughts?

Early on in the design process the decision was made to skip right over the Gen 6 cars as it made the most financial sense. They wanted to be able to have a brand new, never available before product to launch at the Daytona 500.

IF someone was to fund the tooling, they'd be all for doing the Gen 6 cars, however it doesn't fit in their plans for the next few years.

Besides, if they had done the Gen 6 car instead of the Gen 7, folks would complain anyway! ?

While I'm sure it was primarily a financial decision by Salvinos, I suspect that NASCAR strongly suggested doing the Next Gen cars instead of the Gen 6. They don't seem to have any interest in looking backwards. Tooling the Next Gen car is a bit of a gamble as it has yet to turn a wheel in actual competition and testing has already brought several changes. I would expect even more changes once they start racing.

I can fully understand why builders would prefer the Gen 6 chassis as it would provide the opportunity to build nearly 10 years worth of cars through the use of resin bodies and aftermarket decals. All you can build with the Next Gen are cars from 2022. Hopefully there will be decals for other Chevy teams besides Hendrick and maybe even Ford or Toyota resin bodies since the chassis is identical for all three makes.

Not really being up on the engineering side of NASCAR, how similar underneath the body are the Chevrolet, Ford, & Toyota cars?  Could one make a NASCAR Ford Mustang (that is what Ford is racing, isn't it?) with this Chevrolet Camaro with a body & engine swap?

I'm no expert but I believe you can. IIRC the chassis for the Gen 7 cars all come from a single supplier, so with different bodies and engines you could build a Ford or Toyota.

Ah, that's what I was wondering.  Thanks.
