Clear coat over photo etched parts?

Does anyone clear coat over their photo etched parts, or do you recommend it?

Or don't recommend it?

Options for protecting them once applied to the model.....

Shouldn't need to.

Never really thought about it, but it may help keep the etched trim from being knocked off with time and handling.
