Anyone here that have fixed a frame that has a shortshot?

I opened my volvo f12 kit from revell and saw that both frameralis are bad in this kit.

The left rail in the sprue is not even attached to it self.

Is there any way to fix it or is it easier to make new frameralis from scratch?

Getting new ones from revell will never happen as this kit is from the early 90's

I am writing this from my phone if the formating looks wierd.

I have not done this type of repair, but my first thought was to make up some “sprue glue” by dissolving some of the sprue  runners in a thin liquid cement like Tamiya or MEK. It takes a long time to dry completely, but then it is just like the original styrene. Alternately, an epoxy like JB weld, or maybe Milliput? In this case I would drill the two separated pieces and install small wire pins also. I’d clamp it down to something flat to prevent warpage until dry too. Good luck with it.

I've had to do repairs like this.

First, DO NOT REMOVE THE PARTS FROM THE SPRUE YET! They are in the position they need to be in for the repair.

Second, back the frame with a strip of plastic for alignment and strength.

Once the parts have set, fill in the gaps with good fitting pieces to fill in the voids. Trim and sand to shape.

I use Krazy glue as it sets fast and is strong. Its also as solid as the plastic and won't shrink later. It also works as a minor gap filler.

I will try that and see if i can get them fixed. If not i have to think of some way to hide the bad sections of the frame

Unfortunatley i cant do the first step because the short bit of frame that is bad had fell of of it self, but the second framerail are still attached to the sprue.

Try to align the piece that fell off back to the location on the sprue as you attach the support strip to the frame. Or match it with the opposite side after you have fixed that one. You want all the attachment points to line up when you do build the frame.
