steveracer Posted October 3, 2022 Author Posted October 3, 2022 Did a little weathering to the chassis in areas that may be hard to get to once glued together..... Then started working on the dump body. The parts are warped and needed quite a bit of oomph or whatever to get them to line up....but they will get there! Next up a bit o primer then to simulate aluminum.....stay tooned. 1
gatorincebu Posted October 7, 2022 Posted October 7, 2022 Steve, I like your color choice. It looks good from here . This is one of my favorite model trucks. looks to me like you will do it justice ! Be Well Gator 2
steveracer Posted October 9, 2022 Author Posted October 9, 2022 Moving along, decided to assemble and weather the engine and chassis. This is just a mock up at this time with the engine dropped in and the weathered wheel assemblies loose and in place…. 3
steveracer Posted October 19, 2022 Author Posted October 19, 2022 Might look same but a lot of fitting and patience to get to this stage where the engine is installed and main chassis parts glued in place. Wheels are straight but will get more weathering later as I progress. The tanks for fuel and air (which you can’t really see) are slightly weathered and will get some diesel fuel on them as well. But the basic chassis done….now back to the cab and dump body. 2
Gary Chastain Posted October 19, 2022 Posted October 19, 2022 Weathering looks really good, nicely done. 1
steveracer Posted December 28, 2022 Author Posted December 28, 2022 Guys. I won’t get this done this year. I have been interrupted on the build with a vacation with my wife. So I can’t bring this model and all the proper tools along with me. sorry. 1
steveracer Posted March 22, 2024 Author Posted March 22, 2024 Well, that was a long vacation. Last year wife had an idea to take the RV to Florida for the winter. This year the same. Since I generally model in the winter season, guess what.... Got back early this year and about to finish this dirt bag up. Here may be a few new photos....gotta finish it for the model show on Sunday at Macomb Community College.... 2
steveracer Posted March 23, 2024 Author Posted March 23, 2024 Not quite done, still needs a little more weathering around the stack, the intake pipe and firewall, some more mud or dust, and added a Michigan plate to the rear...that needs some real dirt and muck. I am going to fine detail it tonight and after that, will put it in the completed bucket.... 2
Gary Chastain Posted March 23, 2024 Posted March 23, 2024 You weathering and detail are really spot on, well done 1 1
Biggu Posted March 23, 2024 Posted March 23, 2024 Looks great, I'm doing one, as a heavy haul tractor... I have found Meng nuts and bolt really help out on the steering gear and rear ends... love your oil stains, and greasy U-joints.... the transmission color is spot on.... just the right amount of 'oxidation' too, top drawer job ! DRIPTROIT 71 Posted March 23, 2024 Posted March 23, 2024 Very impressive! The weathering is excellent! 1
