this thing is old school KOOL!!!!!!!!!!, what color are you going to paint it. how 'bout a retro color some color they had in 63. and for the wheels i would probably go with some sort of 63 knock off wheels (or spinner cap wheels). of course 63 wheels would be to small so you would have to improvise with something similar or modify 63 vette wheel. anyway you decide to build this model its gonna look killer. I vote for the Corvette, but that '55-57 Chevy convertible which has somehow popped up unannounced certainly caught my eye!

Hi Bernard :D

The '55?? That's one of those "Under The Rader projects" ;) .

Always gotta have a few things goin' on the side  .

Well, Im getting closer to color. Got the hood hinge installed, all the body work finally done on both sides, and in final primer.

For me I have to be in the right mood for painting, and it goes very quickly and without a "Hitch" ;) , otherwise I end up with a mess and things don't work out at all.

Here's some pic's.

Wow, Dave that looks awesome! Love the rear window and the hood.

I can't remember if you chose a color yet.

Hi Clay ;) Thanks

It'll most likely be a pearl yellow.

I think this'll be a good color to go with the the body script decals, and some of the chrome retro trim pieces I have planned for it, as well as the interior color.

Getting all the colors right, and choosing the right wheel/tire package all helps to achieve that "Just Right" gotcha factor that I enjoy in each build .

Good to hear from you - dave ;)

Awesome body work!! Yellow or orange would be my color of choice. I gotta go with the majority...the pipes don't work for me either. Exhaust would be better looking out the back valance. The wheels don't excite me much either. Just my two cents...But, Everyone loves a Vette!

Yes Dave, the pearl yellow will look great on this. Looking goooood! But that Caddy in the background with the Chezoom roof is an absolute killer. I think that car needs some tender love and......paint! Why didn't Harley Earl think of that roof on the late fifty era GM cars? Keep it up.

Peter my friend :P

The Caddy (Badillac II) is a "Short Lister", and is scheduled to be done sometime in the first 6 month's of this year, along with several other projects you've seen here.. Probably 2 - 3 weeks work to finish the " '58 Caddy" - LOL

After that comes some new things for me. I have the pattern wood, a sugar pine called "Perfect Plank" from a local pattern supplier I've dealt with for years, and I have all my fiberglass supplies too.

I am going to design and build a completely scratch-built project, not using any styrene or plastic kit part's.

Bumpers, grill and whatever else is bright-work, will be scratch-built and then chromed.

The interior and chassis and running gear will be the same - all from scratch using my lathe and milling machine, and other shop equipment and supplies, such as the leather skins that I use, and all custom mixed urethane paints that I'll mix.

Been excited to do this for a coupla years now, so around july this year is when I'll step it up and try some brand new things for me, in my modeling B)

I'm always pushing the envelope to see what I can accomplish - pretty fun :) .

Anyway Peter, nice to hear from you - dave

Yes sir "Mr. Clay"

Gotta go to the paint store tomorrow and have them mix me a pint of "Millinium Yellow" in single stage urethane. Then I'll shoot some pearl and the clear coat, and a little rubby, rubby, and some wax, and she should be ready for the interior , chassis, and details.

Talk to you later - dave

Nice work so far! I'm glad you went with the split-window.

You've done a fantastic job on this. I was hoping that someone would build a version of one of my "Retro 'vettes" when I originally posted them over there on the.. ahem.. "other forum", but nobody took up the challenge.

Oh well... it's cool to see this coming together in 3 dimensions. If nobody was going to build it, I was going to have to go and do it myself!!!

Thanks Harry

Goin' to the auto paint store tomorrow to get the urethane late Vette "Millinium Yellow" paint for the "Retro Vette".

All the best - dave :P

You gotten the proportions, contours and surface development just so right that, based on this design, you would think that Chevy have been evolving the same basic design cues for 40 years! :P

Awesome work Dave! I really like the split window! I am definitely looking forward to seeing the paint job you're going to put on!

Well Harry, I did do that 2007 T/A you posted (still not finished.... I just can't seem to keep to one project.... Thankfully I'm not alone!) on the (HA HA HEE HEE) other forum. Love the artwork you did on the 'Vettes. Beautiful!!!!

Thanks guy's :)

I decided to add a couple of small detail features to the body, I've been thinkin' about.

Think it'll add that little xtra to help accentuate it's "Retro" statement.

Harry's "Treatment" in a photo he posted here earlier in this thread , helped me decide on these additions.

I'll share some update pic's in a few days after there done.

All the best - dave B)

Well, I got the paint today, and every since yesterday, I've come up with some idea's that I wanted to do on the '59 Shortened Chevy Sport Roadster - opening features mostly, the door's and the hatch, along with a few other things I'll add as I finish this.

Split-window hatch has been removed, and is nearly ready for it's hinge. The doors are next tomorrow.

More idea's for detailing, so the opening features, so details can be seen. More fun

Got a better camera for pics, so will add them when I get used to all the features - dave

COME ON PICTURES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, yeah, yeah :)B)

Hey, I got more than one life ya know :D

Seriously though, gettin' a lot of spot putty laid down. Always looks pretty rough and "UGLY" before it get's better.

Fitten' and fillin' gaps and gettin' things right, and mostly waitin for the filler to dry can take plenty "O" time.

Sands and feather's really great when totally dry. PIC'S COMIN' SOON.
