slusher Posted January 31, 2022 Posted January 31, 2022 I removed some chrome in Super Clean and I left them in a week to remove the brown lacquer. These was parts to my go kart. When washing the parts in a strainer, I noticed little flakes of plastic left in the strainer. Parts seem ok. What happened? I used new Super Clean in a small glass jar with a lid..
Plowboy Posted January 31, 2022 Posted January 31, 2022 Maybe the flakes were trapped in the clear? Was all of the chrome smooth?

Dpate Posted January 31, 2022 Posted January 31, 2022 Probably was just some small excess plastic you didn't notice on the part cause the chrome. I dechrome and rechrome all the time, and never noticed any plastic coming off or etc unless it's a loose peace of flash. I don't use super clean really anymore cause it can stain the undercoat once the chrome is gone and it's a pain trying to get off. I just use 100% lye, and than let parts sit in dawn dish soap for like 5-10 mins and than scrub clean. You should be fine since you said the part looks good, but you be surprised what the chrome and especially the thick chrome trees can hide.
