Straightliner59 Posted October 30 Author Posted October 30 A couple of quick phone shots, as i was heading out the door. I still need to add the handles and gauge. I formed a short length heat-shrink tubing over a tapered object to make the nozzle. Thanks for looking!
BK9300 Posted October 30 Posted October 30 Very cool updates, Daniel! Is your extinguisher bottle turned aluminum, or did you re-purpose something? Also, how did you cut the mesh for your pedals so cleanly? They must be really small items!

Also, how did you cut the mesh for your pedals so cleanly? They must be really small items! Thank you, Brian! I turned the fire bottle from a knitting needle I bought at the dollar store. I have found them to be a good, cheap source of machineable metal! I cut the pedals out with my photo-etch shears. Yeah! They were a bit of a pain to hold onto!🙂 1
Straightliner59 Posted November 2 Author Posted November 2 I made a mount for the fire bottle, from aluminum flashing. It's not cemented into the car, yet, as I still have some work to do to it, but, it fits! I printed the label for the bottle, and some for the floor mats. I really like the way those worked out. Thanks for looking! 4

BK9300 Posted November 4 Posted November 4 (edited) A little piece of jewelry, Daniel - sure looks amazing! Can't imagine how you make decals that small. . . Edited November 4 by BK9300
Badge73 Posted November 4 Posted November 4 Good stuff here. Love the engine compartment, looks used. My kind of model.

Thanks, Brian! I appreciate that. I think I lucked out, on these. I didn't have/couldn't find vectored graphics for the fire bottle, so I had to use PNGs. They look better than I'd hoped! 12 hours ago, Badge73 said: Good stuff here. Love the engine compartment, looks used. My kind of model. Thank you, Zackary. I, too, like stuff that looks used.

Straightliner59 Posted November 6 Author Posted November 6 I got paint on the inner panels. I'll have to make some for the trunk space, behind the engine. It shouldn't be too much of a problem. I don't think. The battery is mounted to the panel. The panels aren't cemented into place, yet. Progress is being made! Thanks for looking! 3
Straightliner59 Posted November 9 Author Posted November 9 I got the right-side engine panel installed. I didn't worry about the positive cable hookup, because it will be invisible, after the engine cover and rear cover are in place. I added some Wizard Of Os to the indentations in the rear bulkhead, and painted them. I'm unsure, as to their purpose, but, they almost look like plastic plugs, in photos. I'm currently working on the oil cooler. I hope to have photos, later. Comments are always welcomed. Thanks for looking!
Straightliner59 Posted Sunday at 01:13 PM Author Posted Sunday at 01:13 PM I did some tharshing, tonight and got the oil cooler built and installed. Working on the plumbing, now. I'll likely be machining the fittings from Albion 1mm aluminum tube. I think it looks pretty badass, hanging back there. Thanks for looking! 2
Straightliner59 Posted Tuesday at 06:36 AM Author Posted Tuesday at 06:36 AM Makin' fittings! The lines are the inner core of the braided, sinking trolling line I like to use for braid. The sheathing leves a small amount of texture on it, which looks pretty decent, especially given that it will be mounted to a base. The elbows are bent .023" pins. The fittings are 1mm aluminum tubing (Albion). I milled them with a new, fine grit Dremel abraisive stone. I'd always used end mills, before , but decided to try the stone. It seems to have worked, okay. I'll get some color on them, in a bit, here. Thanks for looking! 1
Straightliner59 Posted 14 hours ago Author Posted 14 hours ago (edited) I apologize for any file-size or photo issues. I didn't have time to take photos before bedtime, this morning. I snapped these with my phone, on my way out the door. I made an oil filler tube, and a sort of voltage regulator/junction box deal for visual interest. Hoping to wrap up the engine compartment after work, tonight. Thanks for looking! Edited 14 hours ago by Straightliner59 1
