the main kit here is the revell 1965 chevelle.the body has the rear wheel well’s moved forward using the cut out piece for the filler behind the relocated wheel well. Then i cut the radius with my dremel tool to fit the slicks.after that I attached some styrene strips for the side trim. For the interior I cut t back seat out and filled that area in with sheet styrene.the roll bar came from revell’s hemi dart kit. Chassis modifications include cutting a strip out of the floor pan to move the rear axle forward.the rear end housing came from the revell ms.deal kit. I think the ladder bars are amt’s awb mustang.I made the front springs and axle from cut strips of sheet steel, and aluminum tubing.the front wheels are amt double dragster the back wheels were from my parts box. Both the slicks and front tires are amt.for the engine I used the kit long block with the complete blower assembly from amt’s 1963 corvette. The injector scoop is from a polar lights funny car.i made the headers from solder with a short piece of aluminum tubing for the collector. The red paint is tamyia.the decals are from freemont resin.

the real car had a flip front end I just didn’t feel like doing the extra work to make that happen. The magazine has a great reference article. this was a real fun build, and looks great on the shelf.35F903DF-AFE5-48EE-8FFE-517DD776012D.thumb.jpeg.e4cc72c925f0f387190d4f8d352f58a5.jpeg6303C675-6B95-45BF-86B8-E7DEFE3FDEE8.thumb.jpeg.00c05148cc32d347652808a4af0a4338.jpegC528BB1B-1DA6-44CD-82FD-FCCB45582DEE.thumb.jpeg.6fcab27a43b7354d68cdee040788b52f.jpegC6253FA0-7B27-4B4A-9FAE-5D0948DA6794.thumb.jpeg.b00df995a2633cadff7b41016d23fdbc.jpeg6B4AB118-1599-4C3B-AFCE-C3FEC717DB0F.thumb.jpeg.5cf33cf4f25545d61e1f8aec7c8220bb.jpeg

That's a cool drag car! You captured the flavor of the real one for sure. Looks like some VERY tricky header work on both the car and the model. What the heck are the front wheels on the cover car? Looks like a throw-away spare! May I ask what dark red paint you used? It's a beautiful shade of red. Oh, you better add that tranny cross member before it hits the pavement!?

hi Mr. Elky….my name is Jay Wood and Bobby Wood is my dad. I was searching for a gift for him and came across this model tht you did of his car. “The Palomino” he was very proud of this car as it was one of his first cars.  I was looking for a kit but would love to see if you’d sell this one or consider making another one for his birthday coming up.  I can be emailed directly t eolarealtors@gmail.com or (407)405-3800

i look forward to hearing from you. Much appreciated.
