Nelly Posted April 2, 2022 Posted April 2, 2022 Was wondering if anybody has built this model and if so what color/brand of GOLD did you use. The original kit comes with a gold plated body and a plain body. Due to some imperfections on the gold plated body, I want to do my own. Like I said just looking for some recommendations. As always, thank you in advance.
randman Posted April 4, 2022 Posted April 4, 2022 I don't remember how reflective (i.e. mirror like finish) the gold was on the real car. You may look into the Green Stuff World line. Their chrome metal can achieve a near mirror like finish.
Nelly Posted April 4, 2022 Author Posted April 4, 2022 Thank you Randy - I will definitely look into your suggestion. It is a very shiny finish - as you put it, very mirror like. Some metallic paints I have seen are just not shiny enough if that makes sense. Again thank you for the suggestion.
r60man Posted April 12, 2022 Posted April 12, 2022 They do sell gold Bare Metal Foil, I have had much better results with large foil projects than smaller ones.
THarrison351 Posted April 13, 2022 Posted April 13, 2022 (edited) Are you wanting to replicate the real car? The car was painted gold. DW had a Monte Carlo that was wrapped in reflective Mylar for one race in 1997. NASCAR said never again after that. There were several diecasts released as well. I have the RC painted version. They also did a couple of gold plated versions. I don't have these. I do have the plated model like yours, but I don't plan to build it. Edited April 13, 2022 by THarrison351
