Smoke Wagon Posted June 4, 2022 Posted June 4, 2022 Does anyone know the correct factory color for rear shock absorbers in the 1951 Chevy car lineup? I checked my books (no help) and I could only find pictures of aftermarket replacements online.
MeatMan Posted June 4, 2022 Posted June 4, 2022 Check these out. No guarantee its your answer but it looks like Delco was the GM shock back then. https://www.ebay.com/itm/323737100092 Also, the pic below was another previous ebay listing supposedly for a 49 - 54 GM. 1
Smoke Wagon Posted June 4, 2022 Author Posted June 4, 2022 Well thank you. Original GM parts are good enough of a reference for me. Satin black it is, I’m not sure why AMT says dark blue. 1
Classicgas Posted June 4, 2022 Posted June 4, 2022 Satin black is correct for nearly all 50's to 70's factory stock cars. 1
Oldcarfan27 Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 Blue was used on some replacement aftermarket shocks, so it is acceptable for a used car with 25-35 thousand miles. 1 1
BubbaBrown Posted June 6, 2022 Posted June 6, 2022 GM that had the swirl on them were grey, Mopar that I saw were black.
