Pete68 Posted June 28, 2022 Posted June 28, 2022 I bought this truck back in 1986 at my local Hobby Shop. The Box in the background is for a reference. I painted it as a Dohrn Transfer Truck and a couple years ago I dug it out of storage and painted the cab a Camouflage Tan. This weekend I decided to start rebuilding this truck from my teenage years. This is what I have so far. I rebuilt the frame and put the engine back together and painted both. 3
Pete68 Posted June 28, 2022 Author Posted June 28, 2022 Installed the Engine and put a Gloss Coat on the cab. 2

Pete68 Posted January 29, 2023 Author Posted January 29, 2023 Worked on this one a little tonight. Added the interior and some cab details unfortunately some I’ve lost over the years an have to replace. I also added the stack and air cleaner. I don’t like the way the one looks going from the air breather to the blower so I’m going to remove it and fix it up a little. 2

Pete68 Posted January 30, 2023 Author Posted January 30, 2023 Sanded the tires and mounted the cab to the frame and added back the air intake. Need some more little things and calling it done 2
Pete68 Posted Saturday at 02:44 PM Author Posted Saturday at 02:44 PM (edited) I put this back on the bench earlier this week and mostly stared at it a couple times to tired to work on it but this morning I was up early and got a little done and there’s more work I want to do before I call it done. I added the Cab lights, Air horns, Cab Steps, and painted the rims. I need to find a headlight lens and finish plumbing it as well as some touch up painting and details. Biggu Posted Saturday at 04:22 PM Posted Saturday at 04:22 PM I agree with Gary, came out really nice. I need to get the Detroit green paint into my paint ‘stock’. I like this build. I might need to get one of these. 😉 1

Rockford Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago I do love an Astro. Such a well thought out truck. I think the interior is years ahead of the rest of the industry. Overdrive lo ed it when it landed. GM really tried with rhe Astro and the General 2
BK9300 Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Must feel really good to get this one finished, after all that time! Looks terrific, Lee. 1 1

Pete68 Posted 9 hours ago Author Posted 9 hours ago This evening I was able to put the mirrors on and find some more missing parts for it. I had a headlight lens but now I’ve lost that one 😂. I did manage to get the decals on I’ve had for years to go on this truck the “Running Rabbit Lines” and I robbed some from the Coke General too. A big shout out to round2 for making those State fuel tax decals in scale instead of those giant ones we used for years this makes the truck look so much better. Well that’s it for now maybe some more updates this week and just maybe it will be completed. 3
Six Pack Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago The shop I worked at had two customers that brought those in for annual inspection /service . The cab subframes were somewhat sketchy(if I didn't have to tilt the cab to work on something , that was a good day). Every other brand was just as bad when they were getting rotted out, so I'm not just pickin on the heavy chevy's. Couldn't trust the hydraulics , always used a chain come along to let the cab over center. Those were the days , when I wasn't an old fat cripple.
