Carmak Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 I have an original issue AMT 66 impala to restore. I need both bumpers and a hood. Are the hood and rear bumper from the modified stock car kit the same as the original issue? I know the front bumper/grille was altered for the modified stock car. Thanks. Carmak
Oldcarfan27 Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 Yes same tool, not sure how modified they are from stock.

Carmak hood and rear bumper are stock front grille has been modified
Snake45 Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 The rear bumper includes the taillight bezels, but I don't believe the MS kit includes taillights, at least not clear plastic ones.

blizzy63 Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 It appears that the grille/front bumper unit has definately been, um, modified... The hood has gained a pair of hood pins. The separate hood hinges are still in the kit. The rear bumper/taillight bezels appear untouched but there are no clear red taillight lenses. 1

Thanks Robert! this is perfect!
Oldcarfan27 Posted July 10, 2022 Posted July 10, 2022 I have also heard that the big block engine from this annual ended up in the 61 Ranchero. For what it's worth.
Snake45 Posted July 10, 2022 Posted July 10, 2022 I think you could get away with the grille, if you could replace the headlights. 1

Although it's currently packed I think my parts box has an original front bumper grille. If I can't find my original I agree that the Modified stocker grille could be made to work since the 66 grille pattern is basically horizontal ribs.

The modified stocker grille (bottom) is missing the Chevrolet Impala SS emblem, licence plate and guards, lens pattern and grille elements compared to the annual grille above.
