mademan Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 A few guys on a local forum are trying to figure out what this is..... any clues?
HotRodaSaurus Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 (edited) Hi, there are lots of these in the UK, I am not 100% but I think they are made by Nissan, though they are not marketed under the Nissan name. Also they may have a retro look but they were made in the 1990s thats for sure. These cars often appear in vintage vehicle shows over here as some kind of cult car, trying to fool people into thinking they are old. I can see the attraction as there is an old look about them, thin steering wheel, small lights, painted metal dash with minimal instuments etc. The centre section of the roof usually slides back as a sort of cabriolet. Different but you do not see many men driving them, certainly not around here as most are owned by women. There is a dealer a few miles up the road in Leigh on Sea, I will check out a few details unless someone beats me to it then it will save me a trip. I also see this one is a right hand drive car, are you in the UK as well? Hope that is a bit of help, John Edited January 21, 2009 by HotRodaSaurus

John Goschke Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Hmmm..........I wonder if that's where J. Mays got the inspiration for the last generation T-Bird?? Must've been, Bill, 'cause that sucker sure didn't look like a T-Bird!
george 53 Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 What a BLAH lookin car! I mean, even a Yugo's got style compared to THAT! You say chicks over there drive em alot? Whoa! don't say much for their sense of style!
Bernard Kron Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 This is an example of a short-lived fad in Japanese car design - limited production novelty microcars evocative of 50's era European cars. The Figaro was supposed to remind you of the Peugeot 403 Cabriolet (the Columbo car). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_Figaro Another example is the Nissan Scargo (get it?) inspired by the Citroen 2CV: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_S-Cargo
Eshaver Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 The Nissian almost looks as goood as the Subaru 360, whew.......................... Ed Shaver
Farmer Wilding Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 Another example is the Nissan Scargo (get it?) inspired by the Citroen 2CV: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_S-Cargo Here in Australia the S-cargo is quite popular with small businesses seeking a distinctive delivery vehicle. It was never sold here (Nissan doesn't sell any interesting cars here), so all the ones here are used imports. But they sure stand out in traffic.
