David G. Posted July 18 Posted July 18 Hey! It's nice seeing this one back on the bench. It's one build that certainly deserves to be completed. David G.
64SS350 Posted July 22 Author Posted July 22 (edited) Alright. I had to also re-bend some exhaust tubing that hit the floorboard, now I have to order some paint to match.....! Decided to go back to the original style grill. I stripped the kit chrome and refinished with the airbrush. Edited July 23 by 64SS350 3
64SS350 Posted July 25 Author Posted July 25 Thanks, I see a couple shadows, I'll have to look closer at that. The engine bay is almost ready, tried some new paints.....well, we know how that goes! Thanks for following!
64SS350 Posted July 28 Author Posted July 28 Chassis and body are finally mated! Now on to the details. 2
64SS350 Posted August 2 Author Posted August 2 Progress!! Installed the gas filler tube, rear bumper, and the steering shaft and box. Box is modified to make it ... somewhat fit. 1
David G. Posted August 3 Posted August 3 It's all coming together so well and it looks great too. David G.
64SS350 Posted August 4 Author Posted August 4 (edited) Mounted the front bumper, heater box, and remote coil packs. I should probably clean that windshield! Edited August 4 by 64SS350 1
64SS350 Posted August 11 Author Posted August 11 Good morning all. I have been detailing the engine bay since my last update. I'm experimenting with the wiring, not a 100% satisfied, but it's in there so....But definitely coming together, feels good to be close to .. finishing one for a change!! 1

I even blocked that roof several times. I'm thinking of buying a printed roof rack for it anyway. I too like the color, but heavy on the metallics. I am having a similar problem with a diecast hood that had an opening that I filled: after filing the gap between the hood and filler piece running a nail on the joint and looking at it unpainted looks and feels great, but after painting there is a pesky line that keels showing up no matter what.
64SS350 Posted August 16 Author Posted August 16 The only thing I can figure, It's got to be something with the difference between materials and how they react to hotter paints. I would have thought the primer would have equalled the playing field..... It did seem to disappear after polishing the clear, but I noticed it again the other day. I am contemplating painting the roof white and/or adding the roof rack....
