Frankieboy Posted August 30, 2022 Posted August 30, 2022 Hello y’all. Just joined today. I’m building the AMT dragula car. How do you cut the top off of the coffin? I seen a build of that model that was painted purple on the inside with the lid open and the bubble cockpit glass hinged back somehow. Maybe the guy who built it will chime in. I’ll see if i can find a pic of that. Haven’t built models since I was a kid. I bought a few boxes of models at a garage sale. The dragula was in it. Thanks yall
Mr. Metallic Posted August 30, 2022 Posted August 30, 2022 I have that kit, but not familiar with the breakdown. I assume you should just be able to cut the top away from the bottom with either a saw or preferably with the backside of a #11 blade.
Frankieboy Posted August 30, 2022 Author Posted August 30, 2022 Awsome. Thank you. There’s some really great builders on here. I’ll try to post pics soon.
Dann Tier Posted August 30, 2022 Posted August 30, 2022 This is gonna be great!! It is one of my favorite custom cars! I built mine in 2009, and it was a blast! I started to open mine with the sharp edge of a #11, then finished off with a very fine saw, I used micro hinges that i got from Micro Mark. Really looking forward to following this!!! 3
Frankieboy Posted August 30, 2022 Author Posted August 30, 2022 Wow!!!! That’s an Awsome build. Is that the original engine?
58 Impala Posted August 30, 2022 Posted August 30, 2022 Love that kit. I built mine pretty much out of box. I did use photo etch wire wheels for the front. made custom pipes from aluminum tubing and wired the engine. 1

Frankieboy Posted September 5, 2022 Author Posted September 5, 2022 (edited) So I started on my dragula over the weekend. Got this Chevy blown printed motor from eBay. Shortened the transmission housing and glued the rear axle. Got the top off the casket. I know it’s in the building stage but I think it’ll be cool. Edited September 11, 2022 by Frankieboy Update
