I got one of these cuz I kept reading about how it had a great nailhead in it.

Looking at the instruction sheet, the exhaust looks like the engine is a blown sbc and not a nailhead.

I know I'm late to the party here but did I miss something?

The first issue of the '29 kit had the Nailhead - the most recent issue from a couple of years back has the Small Block Chevy instead.

The reissue from last year of the '30 Coupe DOES have the Nailhead, but the original run of THOSE had the SBC.

I'm afraid so. Or rather the right kit at the wrong time. The initial release had the nailhead. This release. The 30 Coupe that came out after it, had the blown SBC. When they released the roadster a second time, they changed to the SBC for it as well. A real shame. As modelers were up to our ears in small block Chevys, but a good nailhead is a grail item for us. Revell really didn't read the room. Good luck.

See, the nailhead with the tri-carb set up was exactly what I was hoping for... speaking of reading the room: the nailhead, y-block or even a Caddy and having a Halibrand or Winters quick change or Columbia rear end would be nice. It would be nice to be able to build a period rod without having to spend so much on multiple kits or aftermarket.

But, they put the Buick Nailhead in the current '30 coupe. So, the engine is still available. They just did a switch with the engines and Halibrands.
