Calb56 Posted September 28, 2022 Posted September 28, 2022 Still wondering about old Bonneville Speed Week decals in 1/25 as well as 50's speed equipment decals. I know they were available when I got rid of everything 12+ years ago... I had 3 different sheets back then but I can't remember the manufacturer. I did find this online but not sure who had made them. Not exactly what I had in mind but getting closer. 2
Ace-Garageguy Posted September 28, 2022 Posted September 28, 2022 (edited) Gofer Racing has several different sheets of contingency decals, available on eBay. Slixx has several too. Below is their Slixx 7036 Nostalgic Drag Contingency #3 Drag decal Edited September 28, 2022 by Ace-Garageguy 1
Calb56 Posted September 28, 2022 Author Posted September 28, 2022 Okay, found an old thread about "Gasser Models" from 2015 who the image I posted was from but evidently he's no longer around. I still cannot remember who made the initial decal sheets I was remembering. Slixx has a few that are close but the majority are more late 60s thru early 70s. Still, after several weeks of Google searches I cannot find ANY Bonneville Salt Flats/ Speed Week decals in 1/25. Though Mooneyes has them available in 1:1 and if I could afford models in that scale... I don't have a printer to do my own decals, so any leads on someone who can help? I can't believe I'm the only one interested in this topic. Charles 1
Leo64 Posted September 29, 2022 Posted September 29, 2022 I've done a few decals for myself and some friends, and I'm trying to understand what you are meaning about "Bonneville Salt Flats/Speed Week" decals. Are you looking for decals of the different year races at Bonneville, or are you looking of speed equipment companies that racers used at Bonneville? I've found a website that has a bunch of different vintage decals, and I sometimes use it when looking for samples online of different images. They have a section called "Bonneville" but other than a couple of equipment companies, it is mostly race event decals: https://nostalgicracingdecals.com/shop/index.php?rt=product/category&path=52 Most of the nostalgia Drag Contingency decal sheets that are out there have most of the speed equipment companies that the racers at Bonneville used on their cars at the time. I'm not sure of any companies that were specific to only Bonneville racing, but I'm not sure about that. Steve A.

Exactly, the event decals. https://www.mooneyesusa.com/Nostalgic-Auto-Hot-Rod-Racing-Stickers-Decals-s/94.htm
Leo64 Posted September 29, 2022 Posted September 29, 2022 I sent you a message about this. As far as the old decal sheet you had, I've done a lot of research online looking for different vintage decals, and I've seen a few Vintage/Nostalgia drag and NASCAR contingency decal sheets, but don't remember ever seeing one that had a bunch of Bonneville decals. It is possible that someone back then did a limited run of the sheet and they are no longer in business. There has been a bunch of aftermarket suppliers of model stuff that are no longer around, and decal sheets are tough to have last a long time. Steve A.

They weren't just Bonneville decals but a few years mixed with speed equipment decals from the 50s and 60s. I don't remember the manufacturer but I had bought them from the same vendor off Ebay, unfortunately I don't have access to the ebay account that I had over a decade ago and someone from Straight Line Modeler had turned me on to them. Again, unfortunately Straight Line Modeler is just on Facebook these days and I refuse to do Facebook.
Leo64 Posted September 30, 2022 Posted September 30, 2022 I have a friend that is one of the founders of the Straight Line Modeler group, I'll try contacting him to see if he might have an idea who it was selling the decal sheet. In my research online, I have come across some decal sheets with a bunch of equipment companies on them, but I don't know who made/or makes them as I don't see a name on them. Steve A.
Calb56 Posted October 1, 2022 Author Posted October 1, 2022 I saw those! Those were put out by a guy doing business under "Gasser Models". Found reference to him here in a post several years back. When you get ahold of your friend, ask about Mark Brown for me...
Leo64 Posted October 2, 2022 Posted October 2, 2022 I contacted my friend Dwayne on FB, and he said he does not recall anyone offering decals like you describe. I also asked him about Mark Brown like you asked and he said unfortunately Mark passed away like about 6 years ago. Sorry to have to give you that info. Anyways, I'll see what I can come up with for old Bonneville decals for you. Steve A.

He was always trying out new stuff! Good man, for sure.

I am sorry to hear about Mark, I met him through Model Car List and he was the one who told me about Straight Line Modeler. He was really supportive of me getting into building models. Unfortunately, I loss track of him during my divorce and then the following chaos. He was a good man and I probably would not have returned after 12 years away if it had not been for him and people like him. Charles 1

Meaning that he'd go out of his way to help anyone who was asking, if he believed they were serious about learning the answer. He was an excellent modeler, too. Glad he helped you back "in"!
