Richard Bartrop Posted September 1, 2024 Posted September 1, 2024 The order I placed with Shapeways in June is still showing the same level of progress it has for the past two month, so I wouldn't read too much into that. Maybe they're hoping people will still try to send them money, or maybe nobody is around to shut the server off. Interesting that the forum and the investors page are the only two parts of the website that don't work.
JoeK Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 With Shapeways reopening will you be doing business with them again and have your Javelin engine compartment be made again? Thanks
JS23U Posted December 4, 2024 Author Posted December 4, 2024 Hi Joe, thanks for your interest. I got an announcement by Shapeways just yesterday that they want to restart the business. I'll check the site, the prices and everything else what may be of interest and then decide. If anything seems ok I think I will put up my shop again. Jens
gui_tarzan Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 Very nice items. What program are you using to create them? I'm struggling with Fusion 360.
JS23U Posted December 10, 2024 Author Posted December 10, 2024 Jim, I'm using CREO. Simply because I use it at work as well and am used to it. I just checked the Shapeways site. The page is running again, but all our users and shops, the complete marketplace are gone. They don't offer the opportunity to set up a shop currently, I only could upload files to have them printed for myself. Quote from their website: "All marketplace data was lost in the bankruptcy, and the software we were able to acquire is outdated and not scalable. This is a big loss for Shapeways and our community. We are actively seeking alternative solutions and we humbly ask for your patience and support as we do so." So we will see what happens, and when... 1
JS23U Posted Thursday at 11:27 AM Author Posted Thursday at 11:27 AM Update: I haven't found a good solution yet to offer my parts in "hardware" like it was possible with shapeways. So I put up a user on cults3d.com. You can find my parts over there as "Basement-Resin" as well. Sorry, I don't have any other solution as of now.
Mark C. Posted Thursday at 03:31 PM Posted Thursday at 03:31 PM Would it be possible to provide a link to your stuff at cults? Maybe I’m doing something wrong, but when I search for Basement-resin, I get 397 results, the first few pages seem to be random items, not your designs. I gave up after that…

Mark C. Posted Thursday at 03:39 PM Posted Thursday at 03:39 PM (edited) Thanks! I’ll give it a try. Edit: Let’s see if this works: https://cults3d.com/en/users/Basement-Resin/3d-models Edited Thursday at 03:44 PM by Mark C. 1
JS23U Posted Thursday at 07:18 PM Author Posted Thursday at 07:18 PM Yes, that's my stuff. Thanks, Mark C. !
Mark C. Posted yesterday at 02:42 AM Posted yesterday at 02:42 AM (edited) You’re welcome! Do you plan to add your Dodge truck hubcap to the cults site? Also what year models and applications are they meant for? Looks like 3/4 ton or 1-tons perhaps? I like the look anyhow. Also, I don’t have a printer (or the knowledge to use one), but if I found somebody to buy the file, print it, and sell the printed part to me, is that okay, or would there be some issue with licensing, etc? I am just learning about this whole 3D printing thing, and perhaps might take the plunge and buy one someday, but for now I just want to find cool part designs and get some printed for me to use on a model. Thanks! Edited yesterday at 02:53 AM by Mark C.
JS23U Posted 18 hours ago Author Posted 18 hours ago (edited) Yes, I have a few other files in mind that I have finished or already had them up on shapeways. But I need to sort and rearrange them a bit. With shapeways I offered them as sets of four plus caps, hubs and the likes, connected by a runner to handle them as one single part. This was a cost-issue with shapeways, is not needed at cults3d anymore. I will try to upload the files within the next days or weeks, so stay tuned ! The Dodge truck hubcaps you are speaking of are for 16.5" rims. I don't know the exact year or tonnage application. I made Chevrolet truck hubcaps as well for the same kind of wheels. I'm not deep enough into this kind of trucks, so they might not all be 100 percent correct. I'm always open for help or correction. Edited 18 hours ago by JS23U
Mark C. Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago Thank you. They look pretty close to the caps I've seen on Dodge pickups from the 1970s, like in this brochure pic: 1976 Dodge pickup brochure page, which is the look I'm trying to capture. However, I am also not very familiar with the details of pickups in general, I just like the no-nonsense no-option look, on the heavier duty pickups. I'm definitely not one to be in a position to make suggestions, though, they look great to me. No rush on this for me. I'll check your cults page from time to time and if I can get somebody to print them off for me, I'll go that route. Appreciate your correspondence on this.
