David Thibodeau Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 My first Hiro kit in the books! It was a great change of pace even though white metal cleanup became boring.... The rear clip could have fit better as well for a 300.00 kit... Out of box build with added wiring for the battery, ignition, and a scratch built fire bottle on the pass floor. BMW Hellrot red followed by 2 part dupont clear. Built to replicate a freshly restored example of the #86 car driven by Randy peterson and Tim Schecken . DaveT
LVZ2881 Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 WOW!!!! JUST WOW!!!!! absolutely gorgeous David!!! this may be one of your best builds yet!!!1
fordsixty Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 david, you make the rest of us mere mortals, on this forum, want to quit and take up crocheting. awesome, awesome, awesome work. your devotion to the subject is truly amazing. did those hold down clasps come with the kit or did you make them? we're not worthy.
ismaelg Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 David, I ran out of words for your work long ago. And this makes it even harder. What a sight! Of course that makes yet another subject I'm not even consider trying You made justice to one of the most beautiful sounding cars ever! Thanks,
chris coller Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 (edited) Still an awesome build! I gotta agree with you on some of the high dollar kits. You figure for the cost the tooling would be alot crisper. That is what scares about building anymore high dollar kits. Even though the MFH Porcshe full detail kit has been calling my name. Great work as always. Edited February 1, 2009 by chris coller
randx0 Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 great job ,I never get to see what's under these kits and it sure is a treat to see what is there and how well you put it together.
Bernard Kron Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 This one got a little upstaged by the Todt CF FXX you just completed. I wondered what happened to it... Anyway, it's a great result. In some ways I like it better than the FXX; maybe not as high tech and flashy but all that cast magnesium and aluminum has so much soul! And the wondeful seat textures really add to the detail and impact. Superb. Despite your reservations on the fit and quality of such an expensive kit, you have prevailed!
David Thibodeau Posted February 1, 2009 Author Posted February 1, 2009 Thank you so much guys.... I thoroughly enjoyed building the kit and love the results... despite the fit issues on the engine cover. But hey that cover wont spend much time on the car... it covers up the wonderful engine this car possesed. DaveT
Peter Lombardo Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Don't you ever screw up??? Everything you post is absolutely perfect...perfect paint over perfect decals over perfect details...in a perfect photograph. Your work only stands to point out how woefully inadequate most of my stuff is. Great job as usual. I think I will stop commenting on your posts going forward as I can only say "Wow that is beautiful and perfect" so many times. I feel like a broken record.
Nick F40 Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Of course that makes yet another subject I'm not even consider trying You made justice to one of the most beautiful sounding cars ever! Thanks, Oh yes, this is just so cool and representing of the 312.
