Jantrix Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 (edited) Wow. You're actually gonna build it box stock? That's some dedication. I thought the interior (shared by an IMSA Mustang if you can believe it) chassis, suspension, and engine were so poorly done as to be a waste of styrene. I did however use the excellent body for my Cannonball project. I look forward to seeing you pull this off. Edited February 11, 2009 by Jantrix
James W Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 I built this one too when it first came out. It's an interesting body. I would not mind finding another one. I'll keep cheching back.
torinobradley Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Looking good so far. I will have to keep up with this build so I'll know what to expect when I rebuild mine. I had all three of these (Monza, Sunbird and Mustang). I still have the Monza painted in white with blue trim, sitting in a rebuild bin. I saw an IMSA Monza the other day in a vintage car race and thought it would be pretty cool to do one. Now do we remember all those other Revells in this low tech style? The Datsun pickup, Sneaky Pete, Chevy C10, Chevy Luv, etc... All with those flimsy frames, two piece tires and non-descript engines/suspensions/interiors... Those 7 piece engines were a work of art, weren't they? I guess that's when detail didn't matter all that much.
Jantrix Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Marshall, in my pic you'll notice that I did a bit of work on the center bulge in the hood. Those little louver looking things in the hood drop quite low. A tall engine that doesn't taper towards the front like a TPI will cause you clearance issues. The hood was designed with a single carby engine in mind.
RodneyBad Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Man, I just gave one away. Atleast I still have a AMT. Looks like a great build up. nice interior work, Flocking looks comfie. Good looking CannonBaller you got there Jantrix I remember the build up, Last time I was there..
kustoms Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Great looking build so far I commend you for building a rare and not often seen kit. May I suggest somthing that would be easy too add while sticking close to your box stock build? the front air dam needs some round 4inch driving lights sunk into it ... A guy needs too see while he's barrling down the curvey canyon roads at night just a thought.... any way you build it Its gonna be kool keep up the great work! Bud Ellis Kustoms
RodneyBad Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Dash looks good and I like that Gold steering wheel.. If ya can't see it, why worry? My Hearse has the tinted windows and Divider, I'm not worried about the rear..
E St. Kruiser50 Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 "Well it's BAAAACK, BAAAACK, it's back in black, IT'S-BACK-IN-BLACK!!!! OWWWWWW!!!!" A little AC/DC for it.... I painted the body black tonight, and in a day or two, I'll add gold trim to it, then give it a few coats of gloss to shine it up! Here's some pics.... Hope you like it! OOOOH SHINEY BLACK I don't like it - I love it. As george would say - "sure is purdy" Great job. Keep up the good work - dave
