I also run a HO layout as well plus build these model sometimes I wonder if I have enough breath to finish them. I retired last year from driving a Tractor Trailer of 33 years I was the 4th Generation to drive in my family. I don’t miss it either it’s not fun anymore with the drivers these days and the trucks they run. 1
Joe Nunes Posted March 4, 2023 Author Posted March 4, 2023 I have the front axle and wheel/tires in good shape now so I thought it best to check all the other axle/wheel locations. Well…looks like I will be having a “wheelie swell time” at my workbench with the Zona saw for awhile. ? Probably will be missing in action on this thread for a few moons! ? Joe 1
Joe Nunes Posted March 12, 2023 Author Posted March 12, 2023 The wheels are coming along nicely so I decided to take a break from holding onto them, for a day or so, and clean up something else. Picked up the dashboard and thought I would quickly have that part out of the way. Well, it took me a longer time to get it ready for the cab front piece than anticipated. No problem here with me as I am actually enjoying the cleanup challenge. However, I thought it would be of worth while to post a few photos of just how some of these parts look when “cleaned up” (dashboard), prior to putty/sanding and spraying primer, and how they can look coming right out of the kit box (cab front). Might also suggest why the progress can be slow with regards to the build. ? Joe 4
Straightliner59 Posted March 12, 2023 Posted March 12, 2023 Nice work, Joe! Fits like it's supposed to, now! 1
Joe Nunes Posted March 16, 2023 Author Posted March 16, 2023 While starting to clean up the cab horns I noticed the horn attachment was backwards which would result in the horn fronts facing the tanker if glued onto the cab top. I opened the cab top opening using the tip of a #11 blade and a small round file, then adjusted the horn insert width to fit the new cab top opening. When the horns are cleaned up and the bells drilled out the horn part should sit level with the correct orientation. Just a bit of a heads up here for those wanting to build the model. ? Joe 2
stavanzer Posted March 16, 2023 Posted March 16, 2023 Great Work, Joe. NIce to see the enthusiasm you bring to this build. 1
Joe Nunes Posted March 25, 2023 Author Posted March 25, 2023 Still working on it, slow as I am. ? Finished all the tire/wheel units, including digging extra plastic from some of the wheels; an interesting test of one’s resolve. Drilled out the cab horn bells, then started cleaning up the cab mirrors. Knocked down the cab floor rubber mat to a more realistic look, and started cleaning up the cab roof lights. After I get these pieces cleaned up I will get to the tanker axle parts. Still having fun at the bench. ? Joe 1
