ctruss53 Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 I built the 1992 Kenya Rally winning Toyota Celica from Tamiya. The kit is box stock except I added photoetched seat belts and LeMans Decals. This was my first attempt at making a dirty model. I used Vallejo paints to add the weathering. Dusting on Tan, African Dust, and Engine Smoke with an airbrush. I masked off where the wipers can reach, and I smudged the side windows clean as if someone quickly wiped them off. Enjoy. 1
1959scudetto Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 (edited) Very nice model of the dusty car, Chad - you only have to add the license plates. (Were mandatory, as the cars were driven in normal traffic on public roads during the connection stages between the special ones). I will keep your pictures for my buidling own version (in my stash) - especially for the Safari rally there are 3 possiblities: Clean (before the start), dusty or heavily mud-covered if you goofed with paint and/or the livery :-) Edited February 16, 2023 by 1959scudetto

I didn't even think about the plates. The decal set didn't include them. But I have enough JDM kits I could have borrowed something. These safari rally cars didn't usually get muddy, so I went with dusty. haha
Bruce Scully Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 A great looking build , nice work on the weathering .
