Ulf Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 What year did AMT move production to China ? Was this done in one step or was it a gradual process? I find a little ridiculous satisfaction in building kits with a little Made in USA on the runners. 2
1972coronet Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 I'd say it was around 2001, 2002. Their kits from 1998 were made in Mexico, which didn't last long (not sure as to why).

I am blessed with a merchant who indicates years as on wines. The day the supply of AMT runs out like Jo-Han, I will have to look for old MONOGRAM. To be honest, I really like Round2 and Moebius but it is really a nice feeling to open an old kit. Edited March 28, 2023 by Ulf
Mark Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 1999 if I remember correctly. Mexico was 1995 (first new kit I recall was the new-tool '57 Corvette), China was 1999 (first kits I saw were the Phantom Vickie and '58 Edsel).
